How long will Hasbro make MU?
How long do you think Hasbro will continue to make MU? Like it's predecessor Toybiz they've done a great job in bringing us our favorite Marvel characters. Just wondering what your thoughts are if Hasbro ever stopped producing the 3.75 scales would you go to the next company that makes them or whatever...
I for once never got into the toybiz or legends even though I was a big X/Marvel Fan until they started making them 3.75 size. I think I would probably stop collecting if Hasbro actually stopped making them. |
as we know, there's not a magic Hasbro factory that pumps out MU here in the States. they're produced primarily in the Asian market.
that said, when Disney takes over, they will do what Hasbro has always done - contract the Chinese. Hasbro will hand over the license a few years from now. I dont recall the year off hand, but its public knowledge. Marvel Universe is here to stay. ToyBiz was an experiment, just as early MU waves were. difference being the enormous popularity of 3.75 figs today. ML is now a niche market, whereas MU is breaking waves. as evident in Hasbro panels at Cons, MU is not going to slow down. sure there's mutiny and 'apocalyptic' theories by enraged (impatient) collectors and enthusiasts who want the new waves to hit NOW!!!! - but c'mon peeps, its called 'entertainment.' the dangling carrot. suspense. the very fuel that keeps the engine going. retail stores like Target, WM are not in the game. they just sell stuff. so when they buy up cases upon cases of IM, CA, Thor lines and dont see the product moving, of course they pull back and reassess. it's called big business. there's always going to be a market for Marvel Universe - one of the greatest revelations in modern toys. |
It's really I think a simple matter of supply and demand. People keep throwing out 2017 because thats when Marvel's license is up for sale for toy companies. People speculate Disney will want to carry it in house.
Regardless, if MU continues to 2017 that means it would have been on the market for ~8years which would be a testament to it's success and it's reception. In that case, it'd be smart for Disney to let Hasbro do it's thing. And between now and 2017, there are at least half a dozen more Marvel movies to come, which can mean extra toylines too. I don't believe it is a serious threat that MU gets cut any time soon. |
Just like Marky Mark would carve into his chest if asked.. 4-EVA!!!!
I hope. |
as long as i have nova, beta ray bill, and hercules on my shelf, ill be happy.
