PS Vita?
For those who got the PS Vita is it worth getting and if so any good bundles out there currently?
Thanks. |
I don't think there is, yet. I waited a long time to get my Darth Vader psp. I am willing to wait for something like that again for Vita.

As someone who owns every handheld out there (including most past ones), I will say that Sony has finally done it right. It is the finest handheld system to date.
Whether or not it is "worth it" is in the eye of the beholder. If the games available are titles you really want to play, then by all means go out and grab one. But if there is nothing you want to play yet, and you will be waiting for future games you want to play, then wait it out a bit. The launch lineup is one of the most solid launch lineups we've had since the Dreamcast, there is a little bit for everyone in there. I haven't heard much negative from other Vita owners either. Pretty decent launch. |

I knew there was a reason I was down with the FUZZ! I will probably get a Vita eventually. Actually surprised I didn't buy one last week. |
I'll wait till after next Christmas, when they have boxing day sales.

Anyone know of good RPG's coming soon for PSV?
|
lol i checked this out its pretty funny i looked at the details in game so funny
webcam - you could buy one speratley for the psp ages ago sim card/ phone - erm skype ? but had to require wi-fi so slight improvement Touch screen - really nobody touches a screen to play games , espically with buttons and two angalog sticks (unless you have an apple something e.g ipad) but two arent excatley required .... one i thought was fine. seemed to me that you could do all the things on a psp vita you could do on the psp slim and lite already !!!! just had minor improvements and then the battery power will be possibly be slighlty longer than the slim and lites one but when actually using it, it wont last as long i.e to connect to internet, play games, call people so not much different , basically just get a old psp with 1 analogue stick it does the job already ..... |

Glad to hear the PS fans are getting something worth their time. PSP was a joke (Seriously, what kind of videogame system launches with almost nothing but movies?).
But, I don't have very high hopes for Vita's longevity. Nintendo totally owns the handheld market, and so far nothing has been able to compete with them, even when the competitor is by far superior (Gamegear vs the original Gameboy, anyone?) My personal preference is for DS and 3DS. Just ashame that after all this time, there is *still* almost nothing out for 3DS that's worth while. |
Only reason I have EVER owned a Nintendo product is for Pokemon. If it wasn't for Pokemon Nintendo would get none of my money. I am not a fan of Zelda, Mario, and all those kind of games as a child and I am still not.
That is just me though. I got a psp for better and more "mature" games. |
And I'm not a very serious gamer. While I may love watching them, games like Final Fantasy, I can never even make it to the first boss, I get so bored with them. And games like Call of Duty, War for Cybertron, Grand Theft Auto, offer nothing of interest to me in terms of gaming.
The closest I get to serious gaming, is my obcession over the Lego franchise games. Pokemon is definatly my top obcession. So for me, Nintendo has more options. Games I don't have to get so absorbed with and sit there for six hours to achieve anything important. You can shut off Mario, Sonic, or Zelda after a twenty minutes of gameplay. I barily touch my Wii, and I'd never touch a PS or Xbox. (I know from experience, I had a PS2 for a few years. Only ever played it once.) So, either way. I always felt that PSP was a joke, just by the way Sony handled themselves with it. I'm glad to hear that Vita is more satisfactory. |
Oh I agree, Nintendo has TONS AND TONS AND TOOOONS of options. But out of all of those, none appeal to me. Unless it is pokeman haha. I just love all the things you can do with the PSP if you are tech savvy. I had a Gameboy Advance on my PSP for awhile. For Pokemon or course haha.
To each is own though. I am not a huge gamer but I do own 2 of the 3 "big 3" systems. |

One thing I will mention, playing a frantic type of fighter like UMvC3 on a handheld is pretty darn difficult. It will either take a lot of getting used to, or I am just the type of person who likes it better on a big screen with a fight stick. |

As a former owner of a Gamegear, I can honestly say it's three main problems initially were cost, size to screen ratio, as well as BATTERIES. Thing held a charge for about two hours with 6 batteries. Gameboy used 2 and went for 6+ hours. Also, Gamegear launched at a time where the only real franchise Sega had was Sonic. Not enough to maintain a system. I preferred playing Gamegear, but it had only 4 titles in many years of existence worth owning: Sonic, Mortal Kombat, and MK2, and columns. The rest were mediocre at best. Nintendo cornered the cheap parent market by releasing the first Gameboy for $87, and it was 1/2 the size... nevermind the fact that the CPU and screen came from a japanese calculator... With the PSV, Sony has mutiple developed franchises, it has a good relationship with it's third party developers (something Sega was notoriously bad with, back in the day), and they also have clout Sega never dreamed of having. Sony learned from the PSP. The UMD was a joke. too big and fragile for portability. Also, Sony learned that selling movies in a $20 UMD format was a joke. They learned their mistake with Bluray (Blu/DVD/digital box sets). They also learned that people are cheap, unethical stealing rats, and if given the chance, they will steal software instead of buy it. That's why craigslist was FULL of ads offering modded PSP services. By the time Sony got it under control, it was too late for the PSP. The Vita has remedied many of these issues, and I honestly don't think the 3DS is it's main competitor. The 3DS is aimed at kids. The biggest hurdle to the Vita is the Smartphone/tablet market. Sony has to convince teens and young adults that they want another thing in their pocket/purse. 3G & social media compatibility is the first step (very few tablets have 3G now, and most smart phones have a small screen). The other thing they must do is convince people that they want a full featured, high production game for $29 to $39 instead of Angry Birds or Doodlejumper for $1.99. Which actually ties to my final point... Sony needs to really advertise the minis games. These little $2 to $7 games are fantastic and simple. They are quick to download and are just as good as many of the games on an iPhone, but Sony rarely promotes them. |

Everything you say is truth, but it doesn't really do much but push my point. Nintendo dominates the handheld market, and always has. And always will. |

Semi-interesting and semi-related side note... I was at Target today, looking at Vita games... random kid wanted to buy some 3DS game, the mom says, "Why not get the regular DS version game? it's $10 cheaper and you don't use the 3D much anyway." |
