Play Arts Kai DC Arkham figures

So who's getting any of these or has them? What are your opinions on them and who would you like to see done next?

For me so far i've ordered the Batman figure and gonna get the Joker later on (hoping he gets a bit cheaper). I think they look great and their size is what sold me on them as well as the artiuclation and great desgin and paint.

I'm hoping they'll do at least one of the big guys at some point, Grundy, Killer Croc or Bane. Would prefer Bane personally. Would alos like a Ra's al ghul if they give the line more than half a dozen releases.

Hulk97 03-06-2012 04:01 PM

Nobody's getting them? I thought they were quite popular

Tony_Bacala 03-06-2012 04:10 PM

I'm getting the Arkham City Batman seen here:

Not a fan of the first one, too "dirty".

Hulk97 03-06-2012 04:34 PM

I'm confused now, ive ordered the series 1 version (non-armored) are the two different versions of that? One weathered one not?

hrothgars 03-06-2012 07:59 PM

The figs are cool and all, they're just not at a scale I collect. If I was only going to buy 1 AC line among DC Direct, Batman Legacy, and Kai, it would be Kai. And the price reflects the quality...

Barefootabe 03-06-2012 10:00 PM

i dont like the scale either but as a huge harley quinn fan ill be picking her up

Shin Densetsu 03-06-2012 10:10 PM

Pud333 has Bats and I'm blown away

Tony_Bacala 03-07-2012 09:49 AM

EDIT -

Sorry, I was way off.

Yeah, looks like there is a Series 1 regular and armored. One pictured here is regular, the "dirty" one I referenced was armored. Both under Arkham Asylum, not Arkham City.

Hulk97 03-07-2012 10:49 AM

Yeah i went for the regular because the armored looks a tad over painted. I hear their out in the US tomorrow (joker and reg bats) i gotta another two weeks before i get mine

hrothgars 03-07-2012 10:50 AM

I think regular Bats & Joker are Series 1 and Armored Bats & Harley are Series 2.

Alienweirdo 03-07-2012 10:52 AM

I have to have Harley Quinn...

That's what i've read on some other site too. I'm hoping they do a series 3 with Bane or Killer Croc to give Bats a fight

Brando81 03-24-2012 01:28 AM

I just got the Batman, but Harley is the one that I'm looking forward to the most.

That batman figure is sweet! You need to get or make a custom backdrop for him. Or get the led bat-signal for him.

Hulk97 03-24-2012 08:48 AM

I'm thinking that myself, not sure what would work yet tho, maybe some sort of building ledge with a print of Arkham city behind it.... i'll look into those marvel select stands and see if any fit

Brando81 03-24-2012 09:42 AM

Yeah a background would really make it stand out. Building ledge or cityscape behind it sounds good. Post pics once its up!

Hulk97 how is the quality of that figure, what are your impressions?

Hulk97 03-24-2012 11:38 AM

Well this is my first Play Arts figure so i dont have much to compare it too. But i feel the quality is really good overall, the paint apps on mine at least are flawless (havent found any blotches or stray colors yet) the joints are solid but not loose which is a nice change from some MU figures. The plastics arent as hard as MU but i like that as it gives that little bit more movement in the arms etc. The cape is great, mine came a bit bent in the box but was fixed easily, the only area i can see problems arising is the softest plastic used for the top of the cape around the shoulders, i dont think it will rip unless you try really hard mines just not glued to the neck area at the front completely but not sure until i see other's in hand.

Overall i'm very impressed with my first PAK figure and the size is awesome, feels like a MP figure of Batman. One last thing, the sculpt is amazing, its got stitch lines around the fabric sculpt on the legs and the boots look great in person. If you can get one i highly suggest you do so, especially as i've seen prices for this rise sharply recently due to the popularity of it.

behindthemask 03-24-2012 12:15 PM

There's a company that makes really nice ones for like $25, here's an example of them, using a batman figure.
