Ultimate Spiderman

Awesome news: Newsarama.com : UPDATE: Nova Rounds Out ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN TV Cast

Nova (not Richard Rider though), Iron Fist and Luke Cage will all be in the show from time to time as shield agents. I don't care if that never happened in the comics I just care that we get them in a cartoon series!

Sound off and speak your mind on your interest in this show...if you have any.

snake5289 03-03-2012 01:04 AM

The animation and Spidey's character design look great but I'm still pissed they canceled Spectacular Spider-Man. That was the best Spider-Man incarnation outside of the comics.

Greenskar 03-03-2012 01:29 AM

Well...maybe this will carry the torch. Spectacular was great, but its done now. I can only hope this meets expectations.

snake5289 03-03-2012 10:08 AM

It better. Has there been any word about the complete second season of Spectacular on dvd?

Greenskar 03-03-2012 10:11 AM

I thought they were all released already actually? I see them in TRU all the time lol. I watch them on Netflix anyway since they're all there.

snake5289 03-03-2012 10:48 AM

They released the second season in individual volumes but the only one I can find is the last volume. I'm meant all 13 episodes in one set like they did with the first season.

Crazy Jetty 03-03-2012 05:08 PM

I'm looking foreward to it.
And I also agree about Spectacular Spiderman. Not only was it the best Spiderman animated series, I also feel it was the best marvel animated series. Including Avengers: EMH. (Though that's a close second)

snake5289 03-03-2012 06:38 PM

Agreed. I also really enjoyed Wolverine and the X-Men until it was up and canned like Spectacular Spider-Man. Why'd they get the axe but Iron Man Armored Adventures is still kicking?

Jason Abbadon 03-03-2012 07:00 PM

This might be that new Nova shown in the AoA prelude.

I think so. They actually just released this version as an add on dlc costume for ultimate marvel vs capcom 3 and I had no idea where it came from until I saw this announcement.

I have to say i did appreciate where the creator said it wasn't Richard Rider because they wanted to respect the heroic way he went out in Thanos Imperative. 'Bout time a death becomes meaningful. But we know comics. Only a matter of time. Even Black Bolt is back.

Wasn't it supossed to be the three laws in comic writing were
Thomas and Martha Wayne must always stay dead
Bucky must always stay dead
Barry Allen must always stay dead?

Sooner or later the Waynes will be brought back, too.

I don't mind bringing someone back from the dead when there's a reason to, and when there's a good enough story behind it.
Like bringing back Oliver Queen was a good move, and done in a way that had repercussions. But I *still* see absolutely no reason for Barry Allen to have been brought back. And maybe because I don't read Marvel anymore, I *never* saw any good excuse or reason to have brough back Bucky.
Just like there was no reason to kill Human Torch.

So whenever a writer respects the death of a character, I defiantely respect that writer more.

Greenskar 03-03-2012 07:46 PM

My stance with Bucky is very openly biased on account of I never liked or cared for Captain America until Brubaker started writing him. He turned Bucky into one of my favorite comic book characters ever and the Death of Captain America is still in my top 5 favorite all around story arcs in comics.

I'm more upset that in bringing him back and killing Steve off, he eventually broke the rule of for every action their is an equal or opposite reaction and brought Steve back too. I blame Hollywood for Marvel bringing Rogers back so soon but I'm sure there are plenty of fans who loved Steve so much they were glad to have him back. I haven't liked Steve as much since he got back actually.

With Barry Allen wasn't it Geoff Johns that brought him back? I'm not sure. I do know he just has a thing for the originals, like Hal Jordan. He just can't let go of the past either. As for human torch, I honestly don't like the fantastic four and I still have yet to feel any impact his death has had in any books I read from Marvel. I just hope, since I haven't read it, that his death was handled well and there's a good reason for bringing him back besides they're making a new FF movie.

At least Remender kept 616 Nightcrawler dead and had a good reason within his uncanny X-Force story line to have AoA Nightcrawler join the team temporarily.

Crazy Jetty 03-03-2012 08:32 PM

I didn't even know they killed Nightcrawler. :(

And yeah, I believe it was Johns that wanted Barry back. He's got a major hardon for the silverage, and has been working like crazy to return the status quo to the silverage. Which is the biggest (And almost only thing) I don't like about him.
I have nothing against the silver age... other than the fact that we don't live there anymore.
And most of who I used (Like Torch) were just examples. Batman, Torch, and Cap seem to be pretty much meaningless deaths, just to push sales. And the writers had every intentions of bringing them back pretty quickly.
(I find the deaths on DC's side, like Martian Manhunter to be a bit different since they were part of building the Blackest Night storyline).

So, most of my post was a really elaborate and awkward way to basically say "I agree with you."

Greenskar 03-03-2012 08:49 PM

Heh, yeah I saw what you intended but it was such a good topic I just had to dive in further. I agree that blackest night made the DC deaths purposeful and that's something that can't be said for many of the recent Marvel Deaths that have occurred with high caliber characters. I actually liked reading about Dick Grayson as Batman and his struggle to carry on the legacy. That's kinda what it was like for Bucky except add to that the weight of guilt for being a traitor to your country (due to brain washing from the Soviets) by being the ultimate Russian Assassin while wearing the flag. I just feel like there was so much missed potential for both Marvel and DC by bringing Bruce and Steve Back so soon. But whatever. Make deaths mean something and stick with it or don't kill em off at all.

I swear If this before watchmen stuff somehow sparks an after watchmen universe where we find out Dr. Manhattan brings Rorschach back from the dead I might just leave comics for a long time, lol.

Crazy Jetty 03-03-2012 09:10 PM

Yeah. Bruce really should have been left dead. Or at least done a whole different way, because the whole storyline they did for/with him was just batshit rediculous.
They could have still done Tim pretty much the same way, because we know from Superboy's death, and his dad's death, that he doesn't deal with it well.
Just... needed to mean something, like you said.

LMAO! You win the internets!
And what's sadder.... that seems like a genuine possibility... >_<

trebleshot 03-04-2012 09:54 PM

I'm looking forward to the series, myself.

I don't know about DC's rules (other than Thomas and Martha), but Marvel's rules used to be that these characters stayed dead: Ben Parker, Gwen Stacy and Bucky Barnes.

Obviously, the last one no longer applies these days.

I forgot about Ben, he's on there too.
That was a saying for the last twenty years, and I guess it was just a local one. The three things that should never be done is resurrect the Waynes/Ben Parker, Bucky, and Barry Allen.

Then two of those three came back.

Spacemafia 03-05-2012 08:55 AM

The only "Rules" I ever heard were these

Bucky and Uncle Ben....

Trailer for Ultimate Spider-Man. This series could have lots of potential and the Iron Spider suit it freaking awesome.

Crazy Jetty 03-16-2012 02:42 PM

Hopefully Disney will leave the series the fuck alone and not constantly move it around every single week like it did Avengers, and maybe it'll get some good ratings if they do.

Spacemafia 03-16-2012 03:19 PM

I dont even own that channel.....I dont have any....

Project Free TV
I watch any show and movie...

Any show one hour after it comes on....let Disney move it where and when ever....

No you're thinking of 90's spiderman, that guitar riff in the opening is what proves my point.

I just can't wait till they air the finale of season one of this show! It'll be awesome, spiderman dies, and all the kids watching the show will have to learn to deal with Morales! It's going to be just like transformers generation 2!

Alienweirdo 03-17-2012 11:58 AM

Personally, the trailer gives me the impression this is going to be crap. After the truely fantastic Spectacular Spider-man, this seems like a step backwards, or maybe sideways... I know it's not fair to judge a series by the trailer alone, but the trailer is meant to make you want to watch the upcoming series, and for me it's just made me concerned...

First, what I liked. I can handle the surreal humour, like the cutaways and the toaster gag etc, and the animation looks great. They have Spider-man's attiude right, but that's all I can think of that looks good to me.

It seems obvious that Disney feel the need to have Spider-man jump on the Avengers Bandwagon, hence the inclusion of Nick Fury, Iron Man and Captain America in the trailer. It was nice to see Spider-man wear the Iron Spider costume, but it made him more like an Iron Man clone., flying around shooting repulser blasts. The script seems diabolical... 'J Jonah Loud-mouth' ... What happened to his more creative insults and put downs? Like 'picklepuss' and 'flat-head'. And it's Ultimate this and ultimate that.. Like they need to remind us what we're watching. 'Shield train' spider-man? Cap and Iron Man didn't need any Shield training! I'm not a fan of Peter Parker's voice either.. I can't put my finger on it. I'm not sure if it's because I'm used to the previous voice actors, but this guy sounds like he's trying too hard.
But the most ridiculous thing I find annoying, why oh why would Spider-man ever need a motorcycle?! It's one thing to make up this crap for toys so kids can buy them, but to include them in the show? Spectacular never needed that stuff as the characters and story arcs were engaging enough to entertain and keep the watcher interested. All these gadgets and different costumes just scream 'merchendise' at me, which cheapens the feel of the show.

I loved Spectacular, even from the first trailer that they released for it. I will probably still watch this, to give it the benifit of the doubt.

bmorr 03-17-2012 12:22 PM

the introduction on power man, iron fist, and nova sounds rad as hell. Is this in universe with any of the otherr cartoons? In the trailer i didnt like that he revealed his identity to fury.

Saint Phe 03-17-2012 01:42 PM

I'm very interested. What little we've seen has looked great. One of the coolest things about the Ultimate Spiderman comic series was his relationship with Nick Fury. The older heroes training him should be alot of fun, and opens the series up to tons of possibilities.
