Maskless Captain America

So far I am not impressed with the articulation on the new avengers figures, but I still want an unmasked cap. Has anyone tried putting the Chris Evans head from the grenade cap on last years first avenger figure.

Pics would be appreciated.

Also does anyone know how rare the maskless cap figure is?

I have only seen/found/bought one over a couple weeks hunting in a 50+ mile radius.

For now I call HTF, but I'm sure they will use the head again in the line. It wouldn't make sense not to.

If I see another I'll open one and try some swappage, for now I'm keeping mine MOSC for possible trades.

About half of the Walmarts I've looked at that carried Avengers had the maskless one. Of course, they each only had 2 of them, so it completely depends on your perspective.

the body is actually newly tooled too, surprisingly. just done in the style of the rest of the new avengers figures. the deluxe one uses last year's sculpt and body.

Artic 66 03-09-2012 09:52 AM

Has anybody tried this yet or found a picture?

evilash529 03-09-2012 10:57 AM

I'd like to get one too but I've seen about 5-6 of them at different walmarts and the paint on the faces has been horrible on all of them. I don't know if this is wide spread but I haven't seen one that doesn't have gloppy paint on the face.

someone put a pic of the maskless head on the new body in the appreciation thread i think. will only be a page or 2 back if you look...

LORD MARVEL 03-09-2012 11:57 AM

i did it on my new suit cap.. post pics later

I put mine on an older MU Captain America - one that had too small of a head for the body. The Chris Evans noggin is much larger so it worked pretty well.

It looks pretty bad from the side. The front view isn't so bad, but still looks a bit off.

Artic 66 03-24-2012 05:53 AM

Yah, he looks kind of hunchbacked. Thanks for the pick

I actually prefer the Avengers Cap bodies even with the limited articulation, thats First Avenger cap just seems too short and chunky
