Beginner Macros/Robotech question
Hi. I am looking to pick up a Robotech figure, but have no idea about what is out there, what to expect or how good they are.
I am looking for a small kit/figure (I dont mind building a kit but a ready assembled figure is fine too) and obviously the cheaper the better (especially for me in the UK). I want it to be able to transform, be as poseable as possible and with minimal/no parts forming. I like the look of the VF-100's Robotech VF-25S Valkyrie Ozma, the grey looks very cool, but have heard bad reviews about how fiddly it is and how it essentially falls apart and rebuilds to transform. Any and all advice appreciated. Thanks. |
Well my friend the VF100 series is from the Macross franchise, not Robotech.
If you like the Macross portion of RT, then now is a great time to be a Macross fan. There are plenty of quality products from all 7 Macross titled productions. If you are a fan of the New Generation portion of Robotech, then you are looking for Mospeada kits and toys. Currently Robotech.com is featuring quite a few Mospeada related toys and there has been a recent re-release of the Mospeada model kits. The key is to know the names of the original series, RT was composed of to find the products you want. They are Super Dimension Fortress Macross ("Macross" for Short), Super Dimensional Cavalry Southern Cross (harder to find products), and Genesis Climber Mospeada ("Mospeada" for short). Use those search parameters and you will find what you are looking for. Regards Zinjo |

Most likely more durable then the Toynami 1/100 VF-1's. |
Many thanks, guys.
zinjo... I am sure that your post was extremely informative and useful.... Except that I dont follow the franchise in any way, have no idea what is 'show accurate' or not and dont have a clue what is out, what will be out and what scales they are in. :D I did say I was a beginner! :o That said, I will do some searches and see what I can find. Really, I just like the big robots that look cool! Shin Densetsu - Many thanks, the up-coming Revoltech sound exactly what I am looking for. I looked at Revoltech first, and then pushed them aside as they dont transform, so that sounds ideal. How detailed are the Revoltech kits (do they look more cartoony?), and are there any images of these beore release? Next year looks like it will expensive! I guess that my options currently are: - wait for the Revoltech kits next year - 1/60 VF-1 kits at arond £50 in the UK Thanks. That gives me a place to start. I do find that I seem to like the really expensive kits though. |
