No John Carter Toys???
 

Watched the John Carter movie today(and LOVED IT!!! Imo way way better than the bloated and over-rated treehugging hippy preachiness of Avatar) its full of great toyetic stuff!! How is it that Disney's merchandising machine missed the chance for a great sci-fi/fantasy line right here??cool four-armed aliens,two factions of humans,3 species of alien creatures, flying machines,what MORE do you need in a movie??? Theres nothing in the movie that wouldnt fit right in alongside all our existing favourite 3.75inch figures,definitely a missed opportunity!!!

probably not because of the avengers , spiderman is all you going to possilbly just get out of disney not sure though but havent heard any news about it

I agree! Loved the movie and would have loved some pieces from the line.

Probably after the failure of the Prince of Persia + TRON lines they decided not to maybe?

I liked the Tron stuff. They weren't perfect by any means but they were cool nonetheless.

I was looking for John Carter fgures the other week. It would have been a perfect head choice for my gambit custom, as its the same actor and he has the same hair. But was really surprised to see they had no figures planned,

but then, like thelongestday, i remembered the failure of prince of persia and tron and thought that might have something to do with it.

but then again, if they had produced better figures for those movies maybe they would have sold better. the mcfarlane prince figures were very detailed, but too small to fit in with any other line, plus they dropped the ball with the movie also.

Yeah i think the Tron line was great,it just didnt sell well,and the PoTC line was a big old mess as well wasnt it?? So maybe thats what scared Disney off,when will these companies realise,that if you wanna sell toys accepting the lowest bid just aint gonna cut it,make decent,interesting product and the appeal is increased beyond just children!!! Glad you enjoyed the movie GR!! I went with no expectations,but thought it was brilliant,and i loved that little twist at the end,which im not gonna blab in case anyone else is planning on seeing it!!!

I think the Prince of Persia and the Tron toy lines failed because the movies failed. No one was interested.

Tron has some nice gimicks and honestly if the toys had more range of articulation they would of sold a lot more and collectors would of loved them more, but the vehicles and toys are pretty decent, especially when on clearance. Jonna Hex, pirates of the caribean, tin tin, etc are some movies that struggle selling so why have 2 $$ pits that suffer. I have yet to see the movie, but if they made toys I'd think 90% of it would be giant beasts and then 5 variatians of John Carter.

I really liked the creepy light up screen on the masks of the larger Tron figures.

Airhogs made a mini version of the tron bike that is remote controlled and zero gravity ability lets you drive it on the wall or ceiling, I want 1-2 but they're the only Tron toy that hasn't been marked down they're still like 40.

It would've been cool to see NECA produce at least a few fully articulated figures. You need John of course, maybe Princess Deja, that Barsume Jeddak, and a Thaark like Thars. The alien pet Willow would've been cool too.

The movie somewhat reminded me of a live action combo of He Man and God of War.

man the toy is legit, I wish it was bigger then it was but none the less it's pretty slick. ATM it's like $30, where as all the figures and vehicles are like $5-10. so I'm hoping it gets marked down.

It's made by airhogs, was $29.99 or $39.99 retail, when I saw it, comes in an almost all black box, the remote control is infared, the lightcycle uses z-gravity technology to work on the walls and ceiling or floor, and has a light trail effect on the back, if I found it cheaper I'd buy 1 or more, they're at my local Zeller's store which is going to become a Target soon and they're gonna be getting rid of all the merchandise so just waiting for a sale to pop up. if it does I'll buy ya 1.

I PAID to watch it and loved it,it was money well spent as fair as im concerned, Are you saying im an idiot in your eyes because i paid to see a movie i really enjoyed??? A movie which you havent even seen yet are happy to run-down??

It was a good movie. Definitely deserved to do better at the box office than it did, but the marketing for the film was absolutely terrible.

With a better marketing push and some foresight...yeah, would have made for a good toyline, but chances are it would have bombed unless the figures were really good.

I mean, even Avatar toys bombed, and that was the most successful movie of all time (pre-inflation).

I'm not saying it is stupid to pay to see a movie, I just can't believe that this particular movie is selling tickets. I was insulting the movie because it looks like another generic Avatar type film, and I used to work for a movie theater and know how much of a waste of time those places are. I only go to the theater maybe 5 times a year now. You're right when you say that I should see it before I bad mouth it, but honestly, it just looks lame. Sorry if you took offense, but I feel like you overreacted a bit man. Its the internet, sometimes comments sound worse than they were meant to, but I by no means think you're an "idiot".

So $30 million is considered a bad opening weekend now. Huh. What a world we live in these days.

Granted, the estimated budget for the film was $250 mil, but it just got released. Hopefully, word of mouth will drive up ticket sales, since it is apparently a good movie (some have said better than Avatar).
