Looking good. Seems like it's going to be perfect transformation and it'll sport landing gear. It even has kneepads! I wonder how far this line will get, I'd love to see VE's and VT's in this line/scale.

Same here! Actually itching for some Macross Plus valks in the line too, love to buy some for under $100, and hopefully Bandai can kick out a YF-19 with a chunky battroid like in the anime.

Have NO interest in paying top dollar for a 1/100 scale transforming "toy"...

The VF100 were great and they really didn't have to transform IMO, especially with the Robot Damashii line coming out... As small fighter display models they are ideal!

I could nearly buy two 1/72 kits for the cost of one VF-HiMetal or half of a DX toy...

An unnecessary toy line in an already saturated market. I am not expecting it to do well.

I see the VF HI METAL line being a more affordable alternative to the higher priced DX toys, basically a smaller scale line of near perfect transformation toys.

With VF100's Bandai got a lot of complaints because of the toys having too many parts to swap for transformation, and with the last release being the Armored Messiah, it had a significantly lower amount of parts to swap, with the Fire Valkyrie having even less.

I think Bandai is aiming for VF HI METAL to be a line of affordable valks with diecast content and not too much parts swapping for transformation. Maybe akin to this generation's version of the HCM valkyries.

I agree. I think the size will be one of the key draws to this line (especially in Japan).

In my case, both the scale size and affordability appeals to me. Right now I'm collecting a variety of things and I realize that shelf space will eventually become an issue. While I enjoy building kits, the downside is that they aren't for play. For those who don't build kits, they don't factor.

The 1/60 toys while nice are just a bit too expensive. Even if the price for these Hi-Metal toys is somewhere around $50 to $70 MSRP, that's still $50 to $70 cheaper than the 1/60 toys. That's a pretty appealing factor when you're on a certain budget but you are wanting/collecting both Macross toys and Macross DVDs (or something else). :)

1/100 scale is just about right. Not too small, not too big.

Also, the lower price and smaller size might be more appealing to Bandai when it comes to obscure designs, kind of like test runs for bigger toys(like the DX's). For example the VF-4, VF-3000, VF-9(which Kawamori is fond of and he even stated he wants to see a toy of it), would be great to see in the VF HI-METAL line, welcome appearances, and Bandai can guage interest for those to see if they are viable for the bigger DX line.

I dunno.

A $75.00(US) price tag + shipping is pretty steep for 1/100.

However, Shin makes an interesting point. One thing I did notice about the line was that they are steering away from Frontier content. I guess they realized that they'd saturated the market with transforming VF-25s.

If they do produce "models" I want (possibly the VF-1 and other more obscure valks) I'll probably turn them into a fighters and leave them that way. At least the damned ugly screw holes will be hidden...

The sculpt of the VF-19K is quite nice, but I just can't justify spending $75.00 for a "model" that looks like a toy. Those screw holes completely turn me off...

Has Bandai ever heard of "plugs"???
