Marvel Universe 3.75 OVER???

Was told today that Hasbro is scrapping the Marvel Universe 3.75 line. Anyone heard????? I know they let David Vonner go back in March and he was pretty much the heart and soul of the line, and there have been NO 2012 preorders for MU offered from Hasbro. Hope it isnt true. (but it would be typical of Hasbro to screw up one of their best selling lines.)

Tiberius 03-31-2012 01:51 PM

I hope not, yet kind of do hope it is true. Why? Well, saves me money and lets me focus on other lines. Why is is bad? NO MORE MU.

theres is zero word on this, but the facts point to not scrapped.

heres the evidence

1 : recent reshelving in targets and most walmarts suggest that the series will continue, including lots of shelving slots. I can say that compared to a year ago, more walmarts and TRUs near my home now carry MU. Stores that didnt a year ago

2 : during MU's second year there was a giant delay between waves 1 and 2. Vision and Jean Grey wave came out around december, and HTS wasnt shipping wave 2, with Juggernaut and Colossus and Archangel untill May. So a delay isnt unexpected

3 : Hasbro is putting all their gear into the 3.75 Avengers series, and theres the new upcoming Amazing Spiderman 3.75 inch figures, so Hasbro is showing zero sign of abandoning the size. (I mean, look at GIJoe and Star Wars).

4 : Even though Vonner is gone, there are plenty of people working in the Marvel division of Hasbro, and while one person leaves, such as the top guy from ML in Toybiz after hasbro took it over, dosent mean its over. Its all sales, and as #1 states, Retailers are anticipating alot of MU.

5 : The only real speculation is that the series has been delayed due to the return of ML, which is under the same divsion and under the Marvel Universe Brand.

6 : Finally, Hasbro presented Brand New Offerings just a month ago at Toyfair, showing brand new sculpts and prototypes of figures we've only seen in photos as tests.

7 : the first 2012 wave with Storm and Psylocke is just hitting shelves this month. I've seen it. So technically by retail standards, its still going. weve had them longer because many of us go for online specialty retailers, who get them way faster than big retailers

8 : Relax. Untill Hasbro makes any real announcement, theres no reason to fear. Many people have gone into panic over situations that were deemed untrue. Its best to just wait and see. I wouldnt listen to any rumor untill sombody from hasbro stands up, and says "Hey, we are ending it" and even then, they would probably sell the stuff theyve produced in specialty stores, just like how they sold the cancelled Star Wars Comicpacks

and lastly, might I state, BBTS hasnt cancelled their preorders for the new comicpacks. Believe me, if Hasbro would cancel the stuff, BBTS would be the first to announce cancelations.

Nexodusrex 03-31-2012 02:05 PM

and Past Generation Toys JUST got the new comicpack preorders this week

mikefavata 03-31-2012 02:11 PM

Who told you this? Was it nobody?

NoodleChow 03-31-2012 02:11 PM

yup, saw those comic packs go up on preorder. last year the cyclops wave didn't start showing up in china till mid april. unless summer rolls around and nothing is out then it'd be time to worry. with ML and The Avengers stuff out, i can imagine the new stuff being on hold for a bit to get people excited over the other lines.

mikefavata 03-31-2012 02:22 PM

I do question why a lot of the comic pack pre-orders say August though...

proteus 03-31-2012 02:25 PM

why would anyone post a thread like this with ABSOLUTELY nothing solid to back it up??? Shame on you sir.......

ahaha look at this fearmongering troll.

bitman2 03-31-2012 02:40 PM

I did not post in hopes of "fear mongering" I mainly buy my figures through preordering from one of the online companies. I had inquired as to why there were no MU listed.( The company in Question has had the Comic Packs mentioned availabe for reserve for a couple of months now.) I was told what I relayed. I posted here in an attempt to learn if anyone else had heard ANYTHING along those lines. Post was not meant as a statement of fact but as an attempt to get more information.

mikefavata 03-31-2012 02:43 PM

And who is the "company in question"?

Mike Favata‏ @themikefavata
@dancurto Hasbro's Marvel Universe, is it cancelled?
4:59 PM - 31 Mar 12

Dan Curto ‏@dancurto
@themikefavata not that i'm aware of...just taking a back seat to the avengers onslaught & marvel legends returning.
5:43 PM - 31 Mar 12

Dan Curto (formerly of CoolToyReview) has KNOWN connections to Hasbro and is one of the best sources of Marvel Universe info.

bmorr 03-31-2012 02:50 PM

at least its not cancelled. we just have to wait it out for a long ass time.

mikefavata 03-31-2012 02:51 PM

Kokomo Toys | Facebook

And Kokomo Toys who is known for selling pre-order cases of Marvel Universe and usually being the first place within the US to have new MU for sale on eBay.

Quote:

Michael Favata Seriously though, any idea when the pre-orders will start? Has the line been cancelled?

Kokomo Toys No word, yet.
Thursday at 9:59am

Michael Favata I just hope the line isn't cancelled.
Thursday at 10:04am

Kokomo Toys It probably won't be until later this year while they turn out the Legends stuff.

Until someone with something worthwhile to back it up says the line is cancelled... it isn't cancelled.

I'm starting to fear we won't see NEW Marvel Universe until the Avengers line is finished (ie; August).

MeLikeJinx 03-31-2012 03:15 PM

IMO The Avengers figs are gonna peg warm hard... that with the already pegwarming IM2, Thor & Cap figs... I just hope it doesn't mess up the MU distribution even more than it already is. Plus, the fact that they might release even more revision cases in the mean time probably will not help things either... my Target got a whole knew influx of pegwarmers cuz of recent revision cases.

FancyPants 03-31-2012 03:16 PM

That seems more likely. The avengers figures were probably a huge investment for the company and it wouldn't make sense to jeopardize that line before even the movie itself came out. The stores I go to are flooded with them.

Id agree with this, its bad business practice to have similarly themed lines in competition (though im surprised they didnt do a wave or two of MU containing other Avengers-related figures to tie everything into the movie),we've already seen on this very site, how people will buy anything Marvel related if they cant find MU,so Hasbro are obviously capitalising on that, which is a smart move on their part......
