Movie Avengers vs Skrulls...'Nuff said

Saw this at my local Target today and pretty much confirms what I've been saying this whole time. Marvel was only keeping it under wraps to make the surprise that much bigger since fans were soooo sure this was impossible with the Fox license issue.

Or I'm jumping the gun and this has nothing to do with the movie. Either way, enjoy.

if it walks like a Skrull and talks like a Skrull... it must be a duck.

Jason Abbadon 04-11-2012 03:31 PM

Supposedly the leak about the Skrulls pissed off marvel so they changed it....
But there has to at least be shapeshifters involved to explain all thw fight scenes with Thor/Cap and Tony beating the piss out of each other in the woods.

Possible spoilers? I don't know.... I think the forest fight scene between Ironman, Cap and Thor happens because IM and Cap try to bring Loki into custody and Thor wants to take his ass himself to Asgard, so they have a mini-fight to see who keeps Loki. This was shown in the Disney movie storybook.

suuuure they did. lol. C'mon...it's Marvel. These are the same guys who tried to con us into believing that that god awful Sentry character was actually a forgotten superhero that Stan Lee created in the Silver Age.

Hell, they even convinced Stan Lee he created him (or at least that's the only way I'll forgive him for going along with it at the time).

Saint Phe 04-11-2012 03:50 PM

Hilarious. Nice find, man. Can't wait to see the internet respond to this revelation.

proteus 04-11-2012 04:02 PM

Seriously?? Those look nothing like those skull faced creatures from the movie still....or are they the fakes....released by Marvel to keep us guessing??? Man its a mystery only Batman can solve.......

perrych 04-11-2012 04:04 PM

Still, the head on that Skrull game figure looks nothing like the movie soldier we have seen. That game piece does look like a Skrull. I think it is more likely they made a change in CGI due to some reason - whether legal or creative differences. The movie character doesn't look like that Skrull.

KingLouie731 04-11-2012 04:06 PM

Saw this same game today at Target as well. However as far as speculation regarding the movie goes, someone had already posted pics of the villain game characters awhile back. I tried to find who, when, where on here that it was posted but couldn't but I did find an article from Feb at this site avengers movie villains revealed?

Greenskar 04-11-2012 04:07 PM

I'm willing to bet what we're seeing is then with a battle mask on. Then when the mask comes off...Skrulls face!

If you look at the last pic off the Skrulls close up the armor looks the same as what has been shown on the 3.75" figures recently.

Personally, I think its an army of Stan Lee's underneath those battle masks.

NoodleChow 04-11-2012 04:08 PM

yeah seems like they for sure planned the skrulls but then had to change em midway through production. the hasbro toys have the same outfits but prolly had to be given a new masked looking head to sorta accomodate the change. the planned FPS styled game had skrulls and super skrulls in em. other licensed products like this game prolly were prolly too far along in production to really change anything.

proteus 04-11-2012 04:13 PM

So are we seriously saying that they have a helmet, then an unknown evil alien skeleton disguise, then the true Skrull head???

Whoa...I never saw this before. I was beaten to the punch months ago, lol.

Again, this is a board game. Skrulls could have just been chosen because they are a fan favorite and could be unrelated to the movie. Video games are notorious for not adhering to purely movie villains.

Would seem like a lot of trouble though to change the CGI of Skrulls just because of a leak. That's expensive. Not that they won't profit well beyond their own expectations anyway from this movie, but still seems like something silly to do business- wise. They want to please fans not punish them for early discovery...unless you're pirating the film.

What...Skrulls can't shape shift into chitauri to protect a secret? :p

xhavoc86 04-11-2012 05:18 PM

to be fair...how many movie toylines include characters that ARE NOT in the movie at all? Captain America toyline...Wolverine Origins toyline...Rise of Cobra toyline...etc etc...

thechris 04-11-2012 05:31 PM

If these are Skrulls, then they must be in shapeshift mode. Too bad they all chose to disguise themselves like the Green Goblin from Sam Raimi's first Spider-man movie... haha, just kidding. I'm sure this game is loads of fun and I'm sure they'll look great when someone meticulously paints them up nicely.

Boba Fettuccini 04-11-2012 06:10 PM

I said it in another thread, I'll say it here... comic Abomination vs. movie Abomination. Same character, same basic idea, radically different appearance. Probably same thing here with the Skrulls.

Personally, if these are the Skrull, I like the look. The comic ones do the job, but they're too human in some ways. If you make em into creepier weird-ass aliens, then they're a little more believable.

It's not that much trouble when the CGI wasn't remotely close to being finished when the changes were made. The Script leak occurred during the first week of filming. PLENTY of time to make changes.

It's a hell of a lot easier to "please" fans that haven't had the entire story spoiled by reading a leaked script online, which really is little different from piracy (the script was stolen property).

But yes, the very strong rumor for months has been that Skrulls were the original plan, but because of the script leak and also because Marvel Studios may not even have the rights to Skrulls (See: Fantastic Four rights being held by Fox), they changed it early on in production. Licensors have a longer and more "set in stone" production schedule, so couldn't necessarily change as quickly.

Thus we have:

Skrulls in the boardgame.

Something else in the action figures that doesn't exactly look like Skrulls (likely a "quick fix" of changing headsculpts without changing much else on the figures).

Something even more different in the actual television commercials (which will be what's in the actual movie).

It was probably Skrulls to start, but I'd be willing to bet money that it ain't gonna be Skrulls in the movie.

LORD MARVEL 04-11-2012 07:08 PM

I hope its not the skrulls...why would they let loki lead them..skrulls always been there own empire.

bmorr 04-11-2012 07:20 PM

itd have to be aliens cause in the trailer theyre using space lasers. im hoping it aliens. its the ony way it all makes sense.

FrankCastle 04-11-2012 08:07 PM

I have heard rumors that they are Atlanteans

Peteparker 04-11-2012 08:22 PM

Meh, I still don't think they'll use "Skrull" in the movie. I'll be THRILLED if I'm wrong.
