so they did make up some BS for the movie.

No they are the Skrulls from the Ultimate-verse in the comics. Just like Nick Fury being Sam Jackson and not a Hasselhoff look a like :)

honestly, that figure looks kinda cheaply made. Are they really going to charge 20+ dollars for that?

Not intended to be a spoiler. Joss Whedon officially aanounced they were Chitauri. Everyone knew he couldn't use Skrulls due to liscensing issues. Just wanted to spread the toy news. As far as cheaply made it's hard to tell since these appear to have been taken with a camera phone

It is what I expected them to be but was trying to avoid finding out till I went to see the movie. Oh well.

I hope they just use them as genric aliens and drop the shape shifting. The shape shifting/infiltration aspect is too interesting and really needs a proper set up. They should save it for then the do/can use skrulls.

Also, side note, I heard (HETELLME) that the only rights tie up is with Super-Skrull being associated with the Fantastic Four license, and that general use of the skrulls as a race is fine. No confirmation, I've just heard it mentioned.

I just don't think it should have been right there in the thread title cause then it can't be avoided. Before a movie is actually released I would consider anything that isn't expressly in the trailer/posters/ads to be a spoiler to one degree or another. Especially if the marketing makes a point of being vague or completely silent (like how Bill Murray was in Zombieland). These days it hard to be on the internet and not have details spoiled.

Take Mass Effect 3 for instance. I've been careful to avoid spoilers of the ending but I've still seen so much news about how people are outraged about the ending that it starts to build theories in my head. I'm still only half way through the game and all I think about it what they did to screw up the ending for so many people. For all I know I'll like the ending when I get to it.

You never know they could do an infiltration at the end of the movie like they did with Zartan in the GI Joe flick. and easily set up Avengers 2

They should have kept them Skrulls like intended them to be. They were making a movie based game with the Skrulls as the baddies in it.

Exactly.. a game. Not a movie. Just like toy lines based around movies (Thor, Cap, IM) where all figures aren't movie related. They don't have the rights to the Skrulls so you will not see 616-verse Skrulls. And there was never "intention". Joss never said it was gonna be Skrulls. We just all hoped for it. We are harping on a small piece to a really bog puzzle that makes up this movie. I wouldn't care if they were all beating up grade schoolers it would still be bad ass :)

As mentioned these Aliens are the Ultimate versions of the Skrulls. So considering there were licensing issues with the Skrulls, I'd say this was the obvious choice.

This also gives us a chance to MAYBE get a Herr Kleiser figure. Which would be pretty damn awesome.

As for the people REALLY complaining that it's going to be the Chitauri, take it down a notch. At least they didn't make up some race called the "Gajalak's" or the "Asfugs". They used a legitimate race from the marvel universe.

I personally wish it was the skrulls seems to me marvel was kinda lazy to try out a new characters perhaps ok i understand licensing issues , but to me were all possibly better off watching the ultimate avengers...

Fair enough. But you got to give the Marvel team a fistbump for at least sticking to some sort of guidelines.

Supposedly the first draft of the script was leaked long ago and identfied them as skrulls. I agree though the name of the enemy isn't important. Make the Smurfs badass and I'll get behind the Smurfs as the baddies.

i still live in hope that in future avengers movies they may introduce captain mahr-vehl! but that wont be for many years if they ever did. damn!

Okay so I admit I know nothing about the Chitauri, which i think is what wheddon is going for. So I looked it up on wikipedia. .....so the debate is wether they are skrulls or the reboot ultimate universe aliens who say they are sometimes called skrulls....wow.

Interesting side note, if you search wikipedia for Chitauri it beings you to an article on "real" shapeshifting aliens. Probably why Marvel went with that anme in the first place.

Could we change the title of the thread? That's a spoiler that gives away major plot points of the movie in the title of this thread alone, which isn't necessary.

If I didn't already know it, I would have been pissed to read it in this title...

It doesn't give any plot points away since no plot details have been mentioned. This info will be plastered all over the web as it already is becoming and 8 out of 10 comic book fans don't know what the hell a Chitauri is so if you don't google it there's still no leak of information. All you are looking at is the toy counterpart of the same thing they are showing on the trailers as we speak. Not trying to go off on you just really don't see how this is a spoiler since we don't know how they tie into the story yet

I completely understand why they wouldn't though go with the Skrulls as the Chitauri can be made generic enough to please everyone. I don't think there will be any fanboy rage because Marvel didn't make them perfectly or something. They do come from one of my all-time favorite comic stories so I can't complain.


I would disagree there. None of the marketing or promos saw anything about who the aliens are and that is clearly on purpose. The mystery actually would have been nice and I looking forward to the reveal during the movie even though I suspected it was the Chitauri. Even if people don't know who the Chitauri are naming them reveals who the aliens are not, namely anyone else.

I agree with you. All this thread states that there will be a Marvel Select figure of the Aliens from the Avengers movie.
