Got Amnesia: The Dark Descent
 

Fuck me sideways, this game is making me piss myself. I officially can only play this in the daytime.

I've never heard of this game. Please say a little about it?

Scary movies seem to get more and more stupid every year. But beyond that, they usually fail to even bother me slightly, let alone scare me (Save for the occasional booscare). But then I freely admit it's because I know it's not reality, and also because I'm in absolutely no danger, and have nothing invested in the horrible things happening.
(And a lot of it is what passes for scary genuinely isn't)

But that's completely different with games.
I've never played a genuinely scary game, but I know how you get drawn into a game, and also while you yourself are in no danger, you do have an avatar... an extention of yourself in the game, that's in mortal danger.

I will *never* frikkin' play Silent Hill, after the horror stories I've heard about it.
Hearing about this game interests me.

You're a British dude named Daniel who has amnesia, and you're in some sort of... Castle? I think? And you find a letter (like right away) and it's from you, and it says that you drank something on purpose to cause you amnesia (don't know why yet) and you have to murder some guy named "Alexander". The whole gameplay is basically you with a lantern and you have to solve the mystery, it's dark as hell at some parts, and there are scary ass noises all the time. And the longer you stand in the dark without a light, the higher your "insanity" rating goes. Also, your lantern runs out of oil easily. And you can't fight back, only run and hide. Scary shit.

I watched the walkthrough on youtube a while back and...this is easily the scariest game ive ever seen. a sequel is coming and i cant wait.

I had to turn it off for now. I nearly pissed myself real good.

This game in a nutshell.

Reminds me of Clocktower on Super Nintendo. You couldn't fight back and there are some parts where this guy comes out with a giant pair of scissors and you have to hide somewhere, like behind curtains and there's a chance that he MIGHT find you. Scary.

Apparently there's a sequel for this game coming out on Halloween. Amnesia: A Machine For Pigs. Fucking scary.

Aaannnddd I'm done with the game. Aint worth it.

Yep a lot like Clocktower, even Clocktower 3. There was a heartattack metre in that game and as your character gets more freaked out, you stumble around as you run which adds to the anxiety. You can't fight back for the most part and you just have to hide behind things as the monster comes into the room and looks around trying to find you.

I hate the sanity meter in this game. Staying the dark makes you go insane, and the only way to hide from the zombie/monster/thingys is to hide in darkness. On top of that, getting oil for your lamp is such a pain in the ass. I should mention, when you're 'insane' you start hallucinating, everything is blurry, and you stumble everywhere. I've already jumped several times with this game.
