A lot of that was about the Marvel vs DC argument, because the DC figures weren't the same quality....

I'm just a guy on the internet, but I would guess one reason is the characters were made for the movie only. Therefore the ownership is probably less restrictive.

For me the worst case of this was with Black Cat being redone too svelte. It's this weird idea that they need to be gender-free, which maybe is the next generation, I don't know....
