Both Series 1 & 2 had 34 figures.(not including variants/running changes) Well 35 if you count 000 Captain America SDCC Exclusive for Series 1 and 035 X-Force Archangel for Series 2. with the latest wave ending in 26 and the next wave releasing 6? So only 32 figures for this series? With MAYBE compound Hulk adding it to be 33? Or is the next wave(Hulk, Beast, and Kraven) still series3? If so does that mean it could be the wave with the most figures?

2 much math for me at this time of night haha. All I can say is who cares about numbers made when they can't even distribute the damn things lol.

This man speaks the truth. But in honesty, smaller series the better. Saves me money haha.

Does seem like the shortest of the series doesn't it? That's a shame, it's been the best series so far.

I agree. It was the best series yet. I mean I know it's only two figures shy of the normal. But those could have been two figures we didn't have. Prof X and Omega Red

Well the problem with this series being 2 figures short is what stops from the next series from being 4 figures short? And so on.

I think your preference is in the favor of the collectors and also in good taste, but companies like Hasbro are already well aware that mass production of something in this scale (3 3/4) is profitable enough to be made cheaply, and they will likely cut corners anywhere possible. Any attention to detail is another buck or two added to the cost, and we (the consumer) also don't want to pay too much. It's a double edged sword, but the MU community seems to be ok with it.

Personally, I think the detail has been fine for figures of this scale. I think all the extreme attention to detail should go to ML.

It seems collectors pay much more attention to this series & numbering nonsense than Hasbro does.

Are you counting variants, 3 packs, and comic packs?
Because after looking over the checklist, it looks like 36 single carded figures not counting stand variants. With stand variants that goes up by 3 (Skaar, Namor, and Scarlet Spider).

Add in the five 3 packs and you have 15 more. (Not counting Groot, herbie, Ant-man and Wasp).

Then the two 6 packs of X-Men make 12. (Variant Pack, and Normal pack.)

Not sure how you want to count the Comic 2 packs, but it looks like they had more slated than previous years, including the 2 captain america ones, and the 2 X-Men ones.

2 GBPs, and the sentinel.

4 tru Avengers exclusive figures and light up stands.

That's not counting the con exclusives either.

It may seem lower than previous years, but MU has greatly expanded in many ways. I guess it really depends on what you consider counting or not. If you mean individual numbered stands, then yes it seems lower, but if you count it per figure or version of character released it seems more with more shelf space being needed.

If you don't want to do the math, Marvel Universe « It'sAllTrue.Net and just count all the MU figures and multipacks for each year to get numbers. This is also not counting movie dedicated lines, except for CPs since the CPs are considered MU.

I guess you'd also have to factor in the movie lines for that year too as whether or not a year was considered shorter on figures or not. As we've seen with XMO:Wolverine, some movie-line comic series figures do end up as MU figures.

It seems like there will be less single-carded figures for series 3 -- but it also seems like they're releasing at least two variants per wave consitently.

Smaller the series the better normally yes, but now I'd prefer half awesome toys half repaint horse crap.. because that will save money now that I've moved out of completionist mode. :P

Did did you even read the first sentence lol. No I'm not counting the variants. I would only count the exclusives if they had a real number that goes in with retail release like 000 for BW Cap America. And 035 for X-Force Archangel. I guess I didn't mention CP Team Packs GB and Masterworks. But No I'm not counting those. I am only counting the Single carded figures bc they are the bulk of my collection and the one people see the most when they look through it. It's not really a big deal that we are maybe 2 figures short. I was just mainly curious if I did the math right.

Not to blow my own horn, but you can also look at our list:

Marvel Universe Checklist - Toy Discussion at Toyark.com

The numbering and wave breakdown is based on pics from SDCC 2011 and figure sightings, so unless something changed in production, Series 3 is set to have only 32 single-carded figures with unique numbers on their stands.

its a smaller series this year

but

I consider this year to be the renovation test year

Think about it. The new Male and Female body molds were released on a couple figures. 5 I think off the top of my head. These are the test figures.
look at next year. The Year of New Molds. I look at Wave 1-2 of 2012 and I see only 1 reused mold and thats Kraven, but look at how marvelous he looks! Look at all those new debut molds. Hulk 2.0, Beast, Shehulk, The Possibilitys get me excited what 2 of those can do(Beast is really a 1 trick pony. I can see a Avengers Beast mold figure, but other than that, not a lot you can do with him).
2011 builds the stage, 2012 will be the biggest year ever for MU.

I think they are all the same height.

Just kidding.

We won't know for sure until they cancel the line and we can compare every series produced.

I can totally see Hasbro using it as a base for Sasquatch, possibly remolding it into Wendigo. They would be horribly out of scale, but I can still see Hasbro doing it.

I love Wendigo, he's one of my favorite Hulk villians.

I also love the movie Ravenous.

I feel that this post is on topic because trebleshot mentioned Wendigo in his post.

While it may be short, I think its the best year. With almost every wave, I found myself wanting the entire set....I can't say the same with previous years.

And while I know you are not counting them, they have released a lot of 2 & 3 packs...so it hasn't been too short of a year.

Also...I would like to see Sasquatch and Wendigo in Giant Battles size.

Not saying you were complaining, just pointing out when you look at the line as a whole, there's a lot more offered and on shelves than previous years while yes the single carded numbers seem shorter.

Even counting variants, you still stay 2 figures short of previous years. 38 instead of 40.
