Black Panther has been my favorite hero since 1994(I was 7 years old). I saw him on an episode of Fantastic Four, which is my all time favorite superhero team. Growing up as a young black man, it was great to see someone who looked like me take it to who I thought was the greatest team ever created. My mother took me to my local comic book store, and the owner who was recently killed this year because of a petty criminal pointed me in the direction of a Black Panther comic and I was hooked. Panther represented Blacks and Africa in a light that I'd never seen before. Christopher Priest run on Black Panther helped me escape from the world when I got older and had me carrying myself a different way. I've never looked at him as a superhero, but as my favorite young director Ryan Coogler put it, he's a Politian. This man bears the weight of an entire Nation. His Dora Milaje show women empowerment. T'Challa said no more to the Wives in Training, he said let them train and show their true skills. This is going on a bit long, but I love and adore this character with ever fiber of my being. What a truly empowering representative of African culture, and maybe beyond that the evolution of change. T'Challa once said "The old ways are dead". Wakanda, just like every civilization in the history of man is not immune to change...I'm done.
