I mentioned something similar along the lines on one of the horror toys threads...I'd love to get my hands on a Sam and Dean, particularly in a 7 inch scale, to go along with my NECA Freddy, Jason, and Predator figures. The license seems a natural for Funko's Legacy line, and can easily fill out a wave of 6 figures at least.

Castiel and Charlie please! I need my Codex!

Supernatural QMX Mini Masters on display at SDCC "Coming Soon"

Scroll down to thumbnails for these four images:

- SDCC2015 Tamashii QMX Display 099
- SDCC2015 Tamashii QMX Display 100
- SDCC2015 Tamashii QMX Display 101
- SDCC2015 Tamashii QMX Display 102

They're merely statuettes with no articulation whatsoever, but they're a start.

With the rabid fan base that this show has, I'm shocked that there hasn't been an action figure line !
The Greenlight cars have kept me appeased so far, but I still want figures.

I'm absolutely shocked that a Supernatural wave hasn't been done by Funko, in their Legacy line, since cult TV shows seem to be a recurring theme with the Legacy series. Since Funko has done Supernatural POPs and Minis, but no ReAction or Legacy figures, maybe that means that another company is vying for the action figure license.
Like Trivial Psychic said, it would be awesome to see these figures made by NECA !

The only Funko legacy TV line that could be considered cult is Firefly. Game of Thrones is way too popular (8 million viewers on a season finale for HBO is crazy) to be cult as where Firefly has a small but devoted base.

Anyway it's always a trick to make TV show toys work unless it's like Transformers where the show was just a long commercial. I don't watch Supernatural but the size of the show's followers probably isn't a strong enough indicator that toys would sell. Monsters and the like always have an edge on humans because some people get stuff that looks cool regardless of what it's from. A toy line for this show would have to start small and cautious and then expand only if sales or demand actually indicate the growth would be worth it.

Supernatural has a large following, and the show has been around forever, so I think it would do well as a one and done series of figures, with a variant here or there (Such as Sam and Dean in F.B.I. suits.) What might help it out as well, is that it literally has it's own section of merchandise in Hot Topic stores, so it would reach more of a casual crowd, and wouldn't be resigned to just being sold on a single peg in the mature section at TRU. I know it works for Dr. Who and Game of Thrones figures, as my local Hot Topics sell those as well and the pegs and displays are usually empty of all the characters not named Daenaryus (however you spell it...) where my local Targets and Walgreens are exactly the opposite.

I think there may be more Supernatural fans than most people are aware of...the mixture of Sci-Fi, Christian beliefs, and some "Buffy"-like tv charm created a pretty significant national buzz. I agree that Funko would be the best and most likely source for Supernatural figs. There only need to be four...maybe five figs from the line IMO...and a couple of classic muscle cars, of course.

Averaging every season's viewers gives it about a 2.7 million viewer average over its 10 year run and the average has wavered at best but shows signs of dropping, while admirable this is not exactly monumental. When Firefly was cancelled it averaged 4.7 million viewers, unrelated but Arrested Development (a semi-cult followed show, hey it had enough followers to bring it back from cancellation) has what is considered a large cult following (practically non-cult anymore) with 6.2 million average viewers, so Supernatural's following is present but even by cult following standards it's on the lighter side of things especially for something that airs on basic cable. So while a show like Game of Thrones (which now nets in around 18 million viewers average) was an obvious choice for merchandising, even Firefly (with its modest 4.7 million viewers) was a gamble, but Supernatural would be a big potential risk and even one series of toys could be seen as too unstable. I'm not saying that I'm opposed to the idea or that it would be a certain financial risk but looking at it from a market point of view, the base just isn't there. Maybe if they made it one wave only and pushed it heavily onto a store like Hot Topic it would have a chance but as is even one wave of six figures would be a miracle (also who knows what scale Funko would put it in, they've made GoT in 6" scale but then their MtG figures are in a 7" scale) but then again this is Funko and they made a wave of figures for that movie the Book of Life and that thing has little to no base which is why my local Hastings still has all of those things, so maybe Supernatural isn't as far out there as I think.

This might represent a departure from what others were thinking, but I consider Funko's ReAction line to be ideal for any potential Supernatural figs. This way a car or two is actually feasible and the number of characters would be limited preventing any potential line-up from going too far down the rabbit hole in terms of unnecessary figs...

If you really want to get into comparing ratings and what not, I think it's not a really fair comparison. Firefly premiered on FOX, while Supernatural has been provided by two different networks, the WB and CW, and one can argue that it has hurt Supernatural's ratings overall, as not every market carried either the WB or the CW (I can tell you that when I was living in Hawaii for example, none of our cable service providers carried either station.) while FOX is literally carried by every provider as a basic channel. While I'm sure it's changed a bit with the expansion of satellite television and what not, it's still not a fair comparison, because for a long time, the exposure that both shows got was entirely different.

Let's not forget that for a number of years, Supernatural was up in the same day and time slot as another show that was devouring everything in it's path in terms of ratings, American Idol, as well as competing against the NFL on Thursday nights. =(

The ReAction line would be a good way to go about it as well, as it would be easy to squeeze 5 or 6 figures into a wave without risking too much in terms of cost. I'd still like to see a six or seven inch wave (provided they are not complete statues.) I'm sure that a limited wave consisting of Sam, Dean, Crowly, Castiel, and Charlie would do fairly well...and if 5 characters are too much, Sam and Dean would probably do well enough without taking too much of a gamble.

You're right, it's not fair and I'm sure that maybe on another network or at a different time it would have majorly different numbers but unfortunately these are the numbers as they are. It only has a cult following, but maybe that would be what attracts Funko to do it.
