Why are there 50 different TMNT lines across several companies? Did the property enter the public domain or something?

No nickelodeon/Viacom still own the majority rights to turtles. They just spread out the various versions to companies.

Back in the day it was only Playmates that could make the Majority of the figures including adult collector ones and it sucked badly.

Damn shame that Super7 couldn't bother giving Shredder a grey torso.

Oh well, money saved.

Looks like Genghis will be my only purchase from this wave.

Well outside of the Mirage comic based stuff, almost everything is unique. NECA doing cartoon, movie, and now Mirage. Super7 just doing toy homage style figures. BST AXN is doing comic/mirage style also.

I think Neca is winning regards aesthetics, the BST AXN stuff looks cheap to me, and frankly I think some of the Super 7 releases are downright ugly, I know they are based on the old figures, but some of them I wouldn't pay $20 for, let alone the always overpriced $55 Super 7 want

See, I like the Super 7 figures because of that "ugly" look that really brings out the gross-out details of the original figures, that was lost in the flatter less detailed cartoon designs. But yeah, the prices I can't justify. I've gotten a few on sale from Entertainment Earth in the mid $30s range.

I can appreciate that, Super 7 are going for a certain look, and they really do look like they belong to a line with the word ‘Mutant’ in the title. Do you think if the prices were cheaper you’d have gotten more? I’d love to go all in on Thundercats, but it’s just too much, and like you say, can’t be justified.

Well, the Super 7 figure line is based 99% on the original toyline, and Shredder was for some reason shirtless in the original toyline, even the first couple recolors which this particular version is based on one of, still had the bare chest. I'm sure they'll get around to releasing a grey chest eventually, but right now NECA is doing the figures based on animation models.

When I was a kid my older brother’s friend gave me a Shredder and Baxter Stockman figure, I always thought that he must have taken off and lost Shredders upper body clothing because he wasn’t bare chested in the cartoon, I also pondered why my Turtles faces didn’t look like the faces in the cartoon, at the time I wasn’t aware there was other Turtles material besides the cartoon and first movie.

I need some more pictures of these. It's weird they don't do many. I've been looking forward to Space Raph since the beginning but I'm not so sure about it right now.

Yes, but if they wanted to do a variant of Shredder, this wasn't the version to go with from the responses I'm seeing.

But again, money saved, so hopefully what I'm looking for will get released at some point.

Shirtless Shredder is the reason I didn't collect this line. If Super7 painted Shredder's chest silver, I would be jumping down an expensive rabbit hole!
