Corey Butron the G1 (and the recent Transformers: Animated) voice of Shockwave, answered some fan questions at his Official Forum.
When asked… “...with regards to the live action Michael Bay movies, were you ever contacted about reprising? I can't imagine anyone else being shockwave except you; sadly he doesn't appear (and they even got frank welker back but not as megatron and they forgot to make his soundwave voice awesome)." Mr. Burton’s answer was… "I was given the opportunity to audition for Jazz (a totally incomprehensible request for me to even attempt), and "Brawl" (you might recall I was Brawn in the early series), but it was just a one line "cameo" bit that didn't seem worth jumping through all the audition hoops, just for a 2-second bit of scale rate "incidental" VO work. It is rumored that David Warner himself has been under consideration for the next live-action/CGI movie production, as Shockwave - which I feel is entirely appropriate, given Mr. Bay's propensity for casting Screen Personalities over multi-voiced off-camera "cartoon" character voice actors - and Mr. Warner's outstanding history of consistently vivid and "savory" character performances (a much under-appreciated and impressively versatile master craftsman in the fine art of Acting, across the entire spectrum of audio/visual performance media). I wish them nothing but the very best for the wildly successful franchise; and have practically no interest in that kind of mega-budget movie enterprise involvement. I'm much too busy as it is, and thoroughly rewarded already many times over for the work I've done under the Transformers brand." David Warner has often played villains, in films such as Tron (1982) and television series such as Batman: The Animated Series playing Ra's al Ghul, the anti-mutant scientist Herbert Landon in Spider-Man: The Animated Series as well as rogue agent Alpha in the animated Men in Black series. Do you think that Mr. Warner will be a better Shockwave for Transformers: Dark of the Moon? |

Although many of us still have hopes of seeing a return of Generation 1 combiners, the closest we have gotten to a Classics release of Devastator was found in the 5 team Energon gestalt. Some third party accessory makers have centered on upgrading the old G1 Robo-Smasher victims, TFClub seems to be heading on a different direction. Pictured after the jump are some new images from their new Not-Constructicon line of figures: Not-Scavenger and Not-Hoist. Maybe in the future we will finally see a Gravedigger, Hauler, or maybe a Hightower, giving us all the true architects of Crystal City.

Yahoo Auctions, Japan is revealing, what the owner is claiming as a Prototype Transformers: Dark of the Moon Bumblebee toy. It is unsure what toy class this figure belongs to or the authenticity.
We are only 5 months away from the Release Date of Transformers 3 Toys and already there are leaks, it seems. This Bumblebee toy features the looks of the new Camaro for the movie and a strange looking device mounted to it. Is it an engine, a gun or something else? Time to speculate. We are yet to see the Robot Mode. Pretty exciting news for the fans of Michael Bay Transformers Movie Toys. Time to start saving! |

Facebook user Toys Dotm has posted a look at an upcoming Transformers Dark of the Moon toy. Shown in truck mode only, it is the mysterious tanker truck (yes, we know who he is rumored to be - that's for another discussion though).

2005 boards member Venksta has shared with us his work in progress(WIP) images of his upcoming upgrade parts for Darkwind from Transformers Universe Classics 2.0, which lets the figure go beyond being a mere repaint of Silverbolt. Yet there's more than meets the eye to this upgrade set, as the head is not the only thing planned:
So far I only have a rough head made. The head will have a light up visor. I'm thinking of doing two visors for him. One purple and one red. He'll have updated guns based on the G1 version. And a powermaster is being planned, along with other things. More images of Venksta's ambitious upgrade after the jump! |

Just like before, Hasbro has given us a glimpse at the possible future retools of Sergeant Kup and Scourge through their instruction sheets. Speculation is already ramping up on our boards on who they will be re-purposed as. Will we get more obscure characters? Notable but absent favorites? What do you think, let us know after the jump.

Thanks to the photo album of Toys Dotm On Facebook, we have the very 1st robot mode images of Megatron from Transformers 3 Dark Of The Moon! Unlike the 1st movie 2007 Leader Megatron, this figure looks like it has neck articulation, and both elbows are articulated, compared to Revenge Of The Fallen Leader Megatron. The tarp can also be used as a hood in robot mode.
Check out the all new movie Megatron figure after the jump! |

Hasbro have updated their online product catalog with a new toy we've not previously seen for US release - the Decepticon Rumble! Now known as Demolition Rumble, he will be released as a single pack release in the Scout Class (presumably with Frenzy to follow in a later wave). The new listing also reveal's Rumble's bio:
DEMOLITION RUMBLE is little more than a low-down dirty thug. Loudmouthed, violent and destructive, he’s the ultimate DECEPTICON foot soldier. He loves any mission that involves wholesale destruction. It’s not uncommon to hear his shrill, maniacal laughter as his pile drivers shake a structure to pieces. Did we also mention that contrary to previous Rumble toys, this Rumble is a nice, Generation 1 cartoon accurate blue? RIBFIR forever! Just wait, Takara-Tomy will now announce their red one is Rumble... |

Bleeding Cool News has posted an interview with Pat Lee, formerly of Dreamwave Comics - yes, the same Bleeding Cool News that was one of the foremost of Pat Lee's critics during the end of Dreamwave as it slid into bankruptcy. If you're familiar with the whole controversy that marred the 20th anniversary of Transformers, you'll want to check out this interview.

Jim Sorenson has shared yet more eawesome early Generation 1 Transformers lore on his blog, Disciples of Boltax. Today's update covers the extended bios of characters such as the Deluxe Insecticons, Roadbuster, Swerve and Hubcap. These guys are characters who never appeared in the show and generally only have their tech spec bios by way of original character bio material, so it is nice to be able to check out these full-length bios to flesh out these great old characters. Check them out over at the Disciples of Boltax blog by clicking here.

It looks like the wait will finally be over. TFW2005 site sponsor Big Bad Toystore has added a new Generations Thundercracker pre-order listing to their system. Due date is expected to be in February of 2011. It will be nice to finally see all Classic seekers released without making you raid a ruby mine.
What do you think the new deco will be? Will it follow the Botcon or Henkei releases? Let us know on our boards after the jump. |

The latest edition of Toyfare includes an interview with IDW Publishing's Chris Ryall and Tom Waltz about their upcoming Infestation crossover, which sees the zombies of IDW's Zombies VS Robots breaking out of their own reality and attacking multiple parallel realities including GI Joe, Star Trek and of course Transformers. The interview adds some more information on the crossover:
- It all came about from a "who would win" conversation at the IDW offices. - The characters in the individual properties won't cross over, so don't expect Hot Rod and Captain Kirk to go out cruising for green skinned space babes together or anything like that. - The main point to take from the interview - this crossover will not derail the comics you have been enjoying. There's also some exclusive preview artwork. A possible Zombie Optimus Prime? (Blacked out as a possible spoiler). |

Last but not least in this latest round of Hasbro bio updates are the bios for Transformers Generations Wave 6, Sergeant Kup and Scourge! Kup stays true to form with his bio mentioning his penchant for war stories, and Scourge's keeps up the trend set by Universe Cyclonus and Galvatron, hinting that there is some dark secret to his origins (and conveniently keeping them ambiguous enough that his pre-incarnation, Thundercracker, can also receive a new toy possibly in the very next wave).
Read on to check out the bios! |

Simon Furman has shared one last early Christmas present with us from the dark period surrounding the Dreamwave bankruptcy - a summary of Generation 1 Volume 3 Issue 14, which was never scripted. The issue, a self-contained story dealing with Jetfire, would have served as a link between The War Within and the ongoing series. And, as they say, you will not believe the conclusion!
Click here to check out a very cool self-contained story that never was. |
