IDW’s new editor John Barber shared his thoughts on Hasbro’s Transformers and G. I. Joe Franchises.
“Q: Would I be right in saying the movie comics are currently done until what happens next with the franchise is decided? A: I can’t confirm or deny anything right now. I’m just not sure what we’re going to do about moving forward. Its one of the things on the agenda I have to talk about when I get to IDW. We’ll see where everything stands and figure it out from there. Q: After planning and plotting through three major, and well-received movie-verse comic series - how would you describe your Transformers perspective/history/vision to fans that might not know much about you, other than your work? A: The thing I wanted to do going into the movie-verse was respect it and what had gone on before, and also tell stories I felt people would want to pick up. You know, if they had never seen a comic or maybe they’d come out of the movie theatre and they wanted some more. As much as the continuity stuff played a role in it—and as big a length as I went to not contradict or retcon anything—to me, the main thing was that you could pick up Foundation or Rising Storm and get a whole new set of adventures with these characters. You know, sometimes you see these movie tie-ins, and I’m not speaking of the Transformers ones, I mean historically throughout the history of comic books, and the worst ones for me are those that focus in on one specific continuity issue, or thread, that someone really wouldn’t care about. You should be able to enjoy these without necessarily knowing what came before.” You can read more (and not just movie-verse, mind you) over at IDW. |

Protoman is back from TFCon 2011. Here he is, reviewing the conventions rarest exclusive; Toxin by Headrobots.
“Limited to only 100 made, Toxin was brought to life via the hard work of Protoman himself as well as the super talents that are Alex Milne and Josh Perez (both of IDW Transformers fame and super awesome guys)” Checkout this cool review: |

Deadline Hollywood has reported that Transformers: Dark of the Moon has surpassed the prestigious $1 Billion mark, making DOTM not only the most successful movie in the franchise, but the first movie from Paramount to cross the barrier. DOTM is also currently the 10th highest grossing movie of all time, beating out the majority of the Harry Potter films, the Spider-Man trilogy, and all six Star Wars films.
The Movie's run is far from over, however. Considering the last two movies had four month theatre runs, DOTM can possibly break even more records in the remaining three months it has. Could DOTM overtake 2008's The Dark Knight, who is currently resting at $1.001 Billion? |

Thanks to HK-TF.com, we are now able to see a detailed photo gallery of the upcoming Transformers: Prime deluxe toy of Starscream!
This figure looks to be a very faithful representation of Starscream from the Transformers: Prime show. This new gallery provides an additional, closer look at this figure previously reviewed here. The excitement for the retail release of these figures continues to build, and this gallery certainly indicates that we are but a few steps away at seeing this figure (and more) at retail stores soon! Richard Hammond of Top Gear once said… “If you are under 12 then this to you is Bumblebee from the Transformers movies and in a minute it is going to stand-up and throw an Oil Tanker at my face. But back in the 60s its grandfather was fighting the Cold-War”.
He was talking about the new Chevrolet Camaro. The car is now 45 years old, this September. Chevrolet is celebrating with this video featuring the Bumblebee/Transformers Edition Camaro. It was doors wide open today at GM Canada's Oshawa Assembly Plant as over 2,000 enthusiasts from across Canada and the U.S. descended upon Oshawa to visit the home of the Chevrolet Camaro. On display was the Transformers Bumblebee Camaro. Michael Bay’s Transformers Live Action Movie Series not only revived the franchise we all love but also revived the Camaro. As the trilogy ended we even said “Goodbye!” to the Hummer and the GMC Topkick (Ratchet and Ironhide respectively). Driving a good car, above all else… is fun. But this whole “look-back” experience is tinged with the knowledge that I’m writing about something that has ended. What’s interesting is the Camaro Tagline: "The Camaro story has no ending. It's just beginning". What do you think of the car which gave life to movie Bumblebee? Leave a thought at 2005 Boards. You’ll find some pics of the 45th Anniversary Chevy Camaro after the jump. |
