Here is something interesting pointed out to me by 2005 Boards member Junior. Earlier today we got our first look at Arms Micron Swerve, complete with his new head sculpt. As Junior pointed out to me, we have in fact seen the head before - on the instructions of Deluxe Class Ratchet, as the possible alternate head for that mold.
Could it be a coincidence that two unconnected toys both happen to have the same head design? Did someone at Takara-Tomy look at the alternate head for Deluxe Ratchet and say to themselves "yeah, that would look good on our Breakdown". Or is there perhaps a deeper reason for this head design to be getting released in Japan on a toy that Hasbro has confirmed is unworkable for the US market; with the same basic head design then turning up on a mold Hasbro can use, and one with an alternate form reasonably close to that of Breakdown / Arms Micron Swerve. Join in the speculation, conspiracy theorising and wild mass guessing by hitting the discuss link below! |

Our friends over at Transformers @ The Moon have shared with us some recent findings from the USPTO. Hasbro have applied for two new trademarks.
One of these trademarks is for Transformers, under the heading of Entertainment services in the nature of an amusement park ride so this one we know relates to Transformers the Ride. The other is under the usual category for toy registration, and this one is for Doom Lock. For those who can remember the Transformers Energon line from 2004-5, Doom-Lock was a dinosaur Transformer, a redeco of Cruellock. Since the only history of the name is connected to dinosaur Transformers, and we've got a new toy of Grimlock in the pipeline for Transformers Fall of Cybertron, could this trademark application be in anticipation of an evil redeco of Grimlock? Stay tuned for more news as it emerges. |

An interesting piece of news has been sent our way by 2005 Boards member Movie PRIME. He has heard from a Hasbro customer services representative that the new version of Masterpiece Optimus Prime, the domestic release of Takara-Tomy's MP-10 Convoy Version 2, will be available more widely than was originally speculated, and will potentially be carried by K-Mart, Target and Wal-Mart as well as Toys R Us.
Take this with all due scepticism, as no official release information has been released from Hasbro on this item (on the other hand, the two times it has been included in a Hasbro upcoming products display, no reference has been made to exclusivity. Make of that what you will) |

In addition to the Hell Flame Arms Microns, Takara-Tomy have also updated their website to add details of the Japanese exclusive Terrorcon Bumblebee. This dark colored version of Bumblebee comes with a clear purple version of Soundwave's Arms Micron Zori, and is perhaps the closest thing we'll see at retail to the generic design of the Terrorcons from Darkness Rising.
Read on to check out the official image. Terrorcon Bumblebee is due to be released on 10 August 2012. |

Takara-Tomy have updated their Transformers website with details of a new Campaign Micron giveaway. This time out it is a giveaway for four Arms Microns in red (possibly translucent red) "Hell Flame" decos. The four Microns being given away are Zam (from War Breakdown), Glu (from Starscream), Nozi (from Vehicon) and Jida (from Terrorcon Cliffjumper).
Details on the campaign indicate this will be a case of spending 3'000 or more yen on Transformers Prime merchandise on 28 July at participating Japanese stores to receive one of these. The timing and theme suggests this campaign is to mark the release of the demonic-looking Darkness Megatron, who is due for a release around the same time in Japan. |

Some excellent sleuthing by 2005 Boards member jru42287 has turned up the pricepoint for the Hasbro release of MP-10 Convoy Version 2, Masterpiece Optimus Prime, in a store computer system. According to jru42287's information Masterpiece Optimus Prime will set you back $99.99 when he is released.
Considering that importing a Takara-Tomy version would set you back almost twice as much and Hasbro's release is going to come with everything from the Takara-Tomy one, this is a good deal for all looking forward to this release. |

Impossible Toys have updated their homepage with some early CGI renders showing a new project; a Seeker-styled robot with the Generation 1 More than Meets the Eye Part 1 Cybertronian Tetrajet alternate mode. The render does not give away much in terms of how these pyramid fighters will transform, other than the fact that we are probably looking at a design that makes use of a lot of panels if those wings are anything to go by.

We have an update on the rumor that we reported on yesterday, regarding the possibility of a wide release for Masterpiece Optimus Prime, the domestic release of Takara-Tomy's MP-10 Convoy Version 2. Contrary to previous reports we have received confirmation from a trusted source at Toys R Us that Masterpiece Optimus Prime will be a Toys R Us exclusive - regrettably if you want to own this one, you will need to camp out at your local TRU stores rather than just waltzing into Walmart.
We apologise for any misdirection caused by our earlier report. |

TFcon - Canada's 11th Annual Transformers Collectors Convention is July 27th to 29th, 2012 at the Delta Meadowvale Resort and Conference Centre in Mississauga, Ontario. You can find the latest update from the TFcon website below:
NAME: Garrison ALLEGIANCE: Seibertrons SUB-GROUP: Hybrid Double Headrobot/Pretender PRETENDER COMPONENT: Cortex FUNCTION: Solar System Commander “Some people are born into power, some earn it” Profile: GARRISON is the younger brother of STRONGHOLD and head of the special weapons division of Praxus. Years of testing and research (including experimenting on himself) led to his one of a kind Headrobot/Pretender hybrid design. With the Masterforce War on Earth heating up, GARRISON was charged by his superiors to deliver the Godbomber Project designs. He must now reach the fragile blue planet’s Seibertron forces before it’s too late. Abilities: While his main Transtector is his Grando Battleship which doubles as his space transport to Earth; GARRISON uses a smaller truck based body named HEAT to handle more scientific and basic tasks. He also has a Pretender shell dubbed CORTEX which he uses for disguise and other high profile missions. Additionally he carries the legendary Heroic Robot weapon called the Master Sword, which was passed down to him from his brother. Sadly, GARRISON is hesitant to use it in battle due to it’s destructive potential. Weaknesses: Unlike his brother, GARRISON is not comfortable being a super powered fortress base. While he can pack amazing fire power, he only uses it when the situation is truly dire resulting in not being the most effective warrior on the battlefield. He would rather be developing weapons then firing them. This TFcon 2012 exclusive is limited to 100 pieces and limited to one per weekend ticket holder. You can purchase it when you register Friday night at a cost of $70. TFcon 2012 features Canada's largest dealer room for Transformers merchandise, question and answer panels and autograph sessions with many special guests including Transformers Voice Director Wally Burr, Transformers Creator Bob Budiansky, Transformers voice actors Scott McNeil and Neil Ross, artists Derrick J. Wyatt, Andrew Griffith, Matt Moylan, Josh Perez, and Silas Zee plus Hasbro Canada, Jim Sorenson, Chris Ho (Vangelus) and Ben Dolle (Peaugh). |

We've got another cool pair of galleries for your enjoyment now. Following on from our recent run on Botcon exclusives we thought we might also share with you some galleries of the two Transformers Collector's Club exclusives for this year, Runamuck and Over-Run (formerly Runabout). The Decepticon duo use the Generations Wheeljack mold to bring them into the 21st century, which gives them the unique option of either having their official, Wheeljack / Tracks derived robot modes, or an alternative fan transformation which more closely recalls the original toys. We've got both of these exclusives and both of their robot modes fully featured in these twin galleries, so check out the links below for lots of pictures of this Decepticon duo!

By way of ACToys we have a look at some in-hand images of the Generations China Import / Asia "exclusive" Prototectobot Hot Spot. This blazing Autobot is a remolded version of Universe Inferno, redone here in Hot Spot's defining blue deco and with a new head that recalls the original Hot Spot nicely. He's due out in Asia shortly, and he'll also be coming to US Toys R Us stores in a limited fashion as a part of the "China Import" Voyager assortment.

Following on from the in-box pictures from earlier today, Robot Kingdom has now shared some full out of box in-hand images of Japan's Transformers Prime Arms Micron series Darkness Megatron and Jet Vehicon. Darkness Megatron as you can see from these images looks very sharp with the chrome and black contrasting nicely, with the demonic clear wings from his Micron Hades giving a nice effect in robot mode. You can also see how he comes with additional scrollwork stickers for extra detailing, these are seemingly inspired by the gold scrollwork seen on Generation 1 Galvatron in some of the vintage artwork. Jet Vehicon meanwhile looks great, if bizarre in alternate mode (though as some are quick to point out, yes they do look somewhat like that in the show!)
View the pictures on Facebook, or read on for our mirror. |
