Over the weekend, Wonder Festival 2012 was happening in Japan, with displays from CMs Corps, Kaiyodo, and Takara in full swing, as well as some interesting unofficial kits (which were on sale.) Takara's own display, while limited, gives a good look at some upcoming Arms Micron gashapon releases.
Aside from the Exo-Suit Spike and Daniel that we reported a few days ago, the recently released Gutto Kuru Minerva (as well as the special color version on sale at the show) CMs Corps also had the upcoming Gutto Kuru Ginrai on display, alongside a special colored body with the Hi-Q head attached. On the Kaiyodo side of things, we turn to the Revoltech display booth, where they had not only the recently released Revoltech Movie Bumblebee on display, but the upcoming Jetwing Optimus Prime (which will retail for 4800 yen.) But that is not all! One of the highlights of each Wonder Festival event is the wide variety of fan-made garage kits and merchandise, such as a Metroplex kit (that went for 15,000 Yen, approximately 191.82 US Dollars with the current exchange rate) and a super-deformed transforming Fortress Maximus! Special thanks to Wondanon on Twitter for providing us with pictures of Ginrai, Hi-Q and the Metroplex kit. |

Here is an interesting teaser for you - 2005 boards member Red leader sent us over an image teasing an Asia Premium Series Optimus Prime toy. Not just any Optimus Prime, but the Movie series Striker Optimus Prime, who was the upgraded version of Revenge of the Fallen Leader Optimus Prime with additional weapons to form the Stealth Force mode seen in concept art for Dark of the Moon. This one is due for a release in late September / early October and will be a limited edition. Red leader says "trust me, this one will be very special"; could this be a true premium series release for the Striker Optimus Prime toy, on the same level as the much sought-after Revenge of the Fallen Buster Optimus Prime?

We have received an update from Auto Assembly 2012. With just four more days to go until the convention opens we now have details on another great event taking place over the weekend, the annual prize draw. Hasbro UK have donated many prizes from Cyberverse to Weaponizers, which are all up for grabs in a raffle along with a whole lot of other great stuff including memorabillia signed by the two leading men of Transformers voice acting themselves, Peter Cullen and Frank Welker!
A reminder as well to all interested in attending or getting a non-attendee pack, the final deadline to place your order is 1 August - this is the last day for non-attendee packs and the last day for pre-registration, though if you want to attend you can still buy tickets on the order. Head over to the Auto Assembly 2012 homepage if you want to get yourself pre-registered before this happens. Auto Assembly 2012, the largest Transformers convention in Europe with over 700 pre-registered attendees is taking place over the weekend of 3-5 August at the Hilton Metropole Hotel in Birmingham, England. We hope to see you all there! |

Comic Book Resources have posted a preview of this Wednesday's new issue of Transformers Regeneration 1. Issue #82 picks up right where the shocking final pages of last issue left off - and it also picks up on where several major characters ended up following the end of the original Marvel US Transformers comic series including Grimlock! Be warned there are potential spoilers right from the first page of this preview - check it out if you don't mind being spoiled and left wanting more! Then pick up the new comic this Wednesday at your local comic store!

Another bit of Japanese Transformers Prime Arms Micron news goodness for you now, also coming from Snakas. Snakas has posted on his blog information on a third series of the Transformers Prime Arms Micron Gashapon series. The capsule toys in this series include a Ratchet who transforms into a spanner, a Wheeljack who transforms into a kunai, a Starscream who transforms into what looks like a boomerang, and an Arms Micron dragonfly named Dobo, whose alternate form is not shown but is described as turning into a machine gun. Check out the thumbnail at left to get a look at what is in store in this assortment.

Snakas (aka Autobase Aichi) has posted some pictures on Facebook of an exclusive item coming with the September edition of TV Boy magazine in Japan. Being given away free with the September issue is a clear red version of the Transformers Prime Gashapon Arms Micron Optimus Prime Blaster! The clear red version seems to have been inspired by Takara-Tomy's recent campaign of Hell Flame Arms Microns to mark the release of Darkness Megatron - one thing is certain, that this mold does look sharp in red plastic, especially in gun mode.

The demo for the much-anticipated Transformers Fall of Cybertron is here... if you are an Xbox 360 owner, Playstation 3 owners will need to wait until tomorrow (or possibly later today depending on when the PSN updates) for the demo to go up on the Playstation network.
Ushering out the month of July or bringing in August regardless, it is a great chance to get a small taste of the shape of things to come. According to this report from Video Gamer, the demo gives you a feel of both the single player and multiplayer demo action - the single player component of the demo sees you playing the first level as Bumblebee, and also gives you a quick spin behind the controls of the Decepticon Vortex. On the multiplayer front you get a shot at the character creation, and the Team Deathmatch / Conquest modes. By all accounts a good taste of what we will have to look forward to in Fall of Cybertron when it hits on 21 August. |

Alfes2000 of the Higekuma Toy Toy Blog has posted a pair of galleries of the newest Kabaya Transformers assortment, the DX Gum kits. The DX kits come with small Transformers and bases for them to interact with, sort of like the old Micromaster bases of old. The three bases together though can be combined to form the mighty Fortress Maximus. Fully assembled this candy kit version of Fortress Maximus stands at approximately the height of a modern Voyager Class toy - a perfect height for those looking for a Marvel comics Generation 1 scaled Fortress Maximus to interact with their Classics collection.
Check out the two galleries, this one here for the individual bases and the associated mini-Transformers, and then this one here for the combined Fortress Maximus form of the three bases. |

It's time for another look at the Generations Asia Exclusive / China Import Deluxe assortment, and getting the TFW gallery treatment today is Cliffjumper! Cliffjumper here is one of two figures within the Generations Asia Exclusive assortment whose toys were taken from the Transformers Prime first edition series and given new, Generation 1 styled heads (the other is Brawn, from Bulkhead). It's a crazy idea given how distinctive the Transformers Prime designs are, but sometimes, crazy works, and in this case, it most certainly does. This new Generations Cliffjumper boasts a fantastic sheen on his red plastic, a nice, deep and shiny shade, and the new head manages to fit in with the Transformers Prime body design while still being distinctively Generation 1. My only criticism is he really needs a handgun to further set himself apart from the Prime version of the character.
All things considered, he is probably the least exciting of the four in the assortment, but he does not deserve to be overlooked by any means - especially if you have not been lucky enough to pick up a version of this particular toy before now. Open the link below and check out the gallery: Generations Cliffjumper (Asia Exclusive) Gallery |

Good news, PC owners - you too can now join in on the pre-order party and get in your prepurchases for Transformers Fall of Cybertron on PC through Steam! Today, Steam has added Fall of Cybertron as a preorder, due for release in just three short weeks time like the console versions.
Also, if you are a PC gamer and never got a chance to play the original, more good news, because Steam currently has War for Cybertron on sale with 75% off of the original asking price - so what better way to pass the next three weeks waiting for the new Fall of Cybertron than playing the prequel again? |

In an interesting turn of events we can report that there's another new Movie two-pack in the works. This set comprises reissues of the original 2007 Leader Class Optimus Prime and Megatron toys, seemingly unaltered in a Dark of the Moon branded gift set box. Judging by the text on the front by the names, this is probably another Hasbro Asia exclusive release, like the previous Buster Optimus Prime & Jetfire gift set releases.
This bit of news comes to you via the Planet Iacon Facebook page. |

Alongside the review of the kit itself, Protoman also went over the decisions made during the creative process of the exclusive, as well as revealed (for those who haven't read the TFCon 2012 comic, which is available here) the body that is intended for use with this particular kit.
The TFCon Exclusive Garrisson add-on kit was produced by HeadRobots, and is limited to 100 pieces. Please note this is an unauthorised third party product not endorsed by Hasbro or Takara-Tomy. |

Airing in Japan on 12 August is a late-night special for Transformers Prime. This special is set to air between 2:45 and 4:45 am Japanese time, and is hosted by the voice actors of Miko, Sierra and Vehicon in the Japanese dub. The content includes a recap of the episodes so far, comments from the cast, a newly filmed Tokyo Joshi-ryu Transformers Club segment (the girl band who appears in a weekly segment airing with the Japanese dub of the show) and a comparison of Japanese and American Prime episode #12 (Predatory) focusing on the director, Yoshikazu Iwanami's take on Airachnid's character.
The show is also supposed to cover past Transformers series. Check out the (Japanese) advert page here! A huge thanks to 2005 Boards staff member SydneyY for helping us out with a translation. |

Next up in our look at the Asia Exclusive / China Import assortment of Transformers Generations is the toy that made a lot of us laugh and say "wait, what?" I am of course referring to Wheelie! Wheelie here is a reuse of the Reveal the Shield Jazz toy, again with a new head and also this time a new accessory, trading out Jazz's gun for Wheelie's trusty slingshot.
The crazy thing with Wheelie is that he actually works extremely well out of Jazz's mold. In vehicle mode a combination of a clever paint job and the overall shape of Jazz evoke the look of the Universe Legends Wheelie extremely well. In robot mode the new head, new deco and new accessory help to set Wheelie aside from Jazz, and give him a personality all of his own. It is perhaps a testament to how well done this deco is, and how well designed Jazz was to begin with, that I'm now on my sixth version of this toy and it still feels as fun and fresh as the first one. Open the link below to check out the gallery for a look at Generations Wheelie! Like the rest of this Asia Exclusive Deluxe Assortment, he'll be available as a part of the Toys R Us exclusive China Import assortment later in the year. By way of our sponsors Big Bad Toy Store we can confirm two new characters for Transformers Rescue Bots! The fifth assortment of Rescue Bots toys introduces two new characters, Medix the Doc Bot and Hoist the Tow Bot into the mix.
By way of Hasbro's website instruction archive, we've got a look at the instructions for Medix and Hoist, which gives us some indication of the look of the robot mode and vehicle modes. The instructions use line art rather than photos of the toys, so there's still a bit of mystery on what the toys will look like though. Shout out to 2005 Boards member engledogg for digging these up! The fifth assortment is rounded out by repacks of Blades and Boulder, two characters who have been hard to find previously. It's due in stock at Big Bad Toy Store in September this year. |

By way of Autobase Aichi and masterfileblog (and 2005 boards staff member SydneyY) we have some information for you regarding an upcoming contest for Japanese Transformers fans. From 11 August, there will be downloadable base drawings to be colored in from TV Aichi, Avex DVD official page and TakaraTomy's own site.
Entrants will have a choice of characters to color, and can pick one of Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Bulkhead, Ratchet, Arcee, Megatron and Starscream. The two grand prize winners will receive the toy of the Transformer they colored in the color scheme that they chose - in other words, the top prizes will be some of the rarest of the rare in terms of Lucky Draw Transformers, the coloring contest prize toys. Takara ran a contest like this twice before in the past, for Galaxy Force and for the Robot Masters line. For non-Japan residents, at least the base drawings will give all the budding colorists among us a chance to hone their skills. |
