The official Transformers website has updated to its new Beast Hunters theme, and with it comes some rather interesting new material! There is a "choose your own adventure" style game where you jump into the action exploring Shockwave's lab following the "urgent transmission" promo spot, as well as a rather fun Rampage clone where you play as Predaking trashing city blocks. There's also a "beast creator" minigame.
The "choose your own adventure" spot has some fun extras too in the form of character profiles, revealing a new Predacon character. His name is Vertebreak and he is a tiger-striped Lazerback redeco. His bio is as follows: "The powerful Vertebreak wants nothing more than to smash the Autobots and all who stand with them!" Other character bios are also revealed as you play the game! Check this and all the other goodies out at the official Transformers homepage, Transformers.com |

Takara-Tomy design team member Hisashi Yuki has tweeted a nice selection of pictures showcasing the next assortment of Takara-Tomy Transformers Generations releases. These images show four of the five releases in the assortment - Ultra Magnus, Sideswipe, Starscream and Kickback - in both their modes and side-by-side with the Hasbro releases, which lets you appreciate all the little extra paint details and other changes that Takara-Tomy's releases include on their decos.
Check out all the images on Hisashi Yuki's Twitter stream. |

On completing the Shockwave's lab "choose your own adventure" game on the newly revamped Transformers.com, you are given a look at the Autobots "gearing up to take down the Predacons". Among the various images shown at the end of this sequence is a look at a Beast Hunters Arcee - complete with bio and tech specs. Arcee is following suit with the rest of the Autobots by donning Mad Max style battle armor on her vehicle mode, giving her a tougher appearance in robot mode.
A second character is also hinted at - Huffer has an entry in the list of Autobots at the end of the sequence. The toy shown is the Power Core Combiners Huffer from 2010, but there is a new bio attached to the listing, suggesting that Huffer may also be getting a toy in the Beast Hunters line. For those keeping score, that's one more Predacon and two more Autobots for a prospective Beast Hunters Deluxe Wave 4 - doubtless there will be a Decepticon in there as well, but for the moment we know nothing of them. |

The Official Transformers Facebook page has uploaded a new promotional image for Beast Hunters featuring Optimus Prime & Megatron. Interestingly enough, unlike both the voyager Beast Hunter Optimus and Ultimate Optimus Prime figures, Prime in this image sports his battle mask. The image also shows Prime sporting a green Star Saber and green eyes like on the aforementioned toys.
Could a battle mask head sculpt be planned as running changes to both of the figures or used later on for repaints/retools? While Predaking has been hyped as the main nemesis for the show, it remains to be seen if Megatron will be upgraded. A new figure of him has not been shown for the Beast Hunters line thus far, however, as noted with our Toy Fair 2013 Transformers Toy Information, 1 out of the 6 voyager figures remains to be seen... |

CONSTRUCTICON DEVASTATOR cannot be defeated. Puny AUTOBOTS are always scorching me with their tiny lasers, but nothing hurts CONSTRUCTICON DEVASTATOR. I smash and dismantle all who oppose me! Then I kick their bricks into the closest river! Hates: AUTOBOTS. Thinking. Favorite TV show: The one with the guys who blow stuff up all the time. Prefers: Devastating to constructing. Another pair of Bot Shots have been revealed through an update to the Hasbro Bot Shots page. The page now includes some information and bios on the first Predacon Bot Shots. Twinstrike (aka Sinnertwin) was among those on the Hasbro display at Toy Fair; we've got confirmation that it is indeed him from this update. This update also reveals that the Dinobot looking Predacon is in fact going to be named Scourge - he's already got a redeco coming in a three pack with Sergeant Kup and Blitzwing, too. Third of this trio of new Predacon Bot Shots reveals is Cindersaur - and to the best of our knowledge, he's new to us! No word on the assortments that these three are debuting in, but expect to potentially see them appearing from the next assortment onwards.

Scans from a Japanese retailer catalog have been posted on Twitter by Twitter user trafes20120505. There's four scans of Transformers related material, two of them, Transformers GT and Generations, show us little we've not seen already. The other two though, showcase new releases in the BeCool line as well as Beast Hunters Japanese release!
The Japanese release of Beast Hunters will be known as Transformers Go! The catalog scan reveals the same toys we had heard previously, and presently only shows the US release toys, possibly as placeholders. There's no indication at present of any extras like new paint jobs or Arms Micron partners. The page for BeCool is the one that reveals a few new toys. It seems that last year's assortment of the Bot Shots Launchers will be making their way to Japan. All four will be altered though - Optimus Prime's trailer will be blue, rather than gray. Ironhide will be red rather than movie black, Starscream will be yellow and Megatron green. It is unclear what characters these are meant to represent, given the nature of the link between BeCool and the Transformers franchise in Japan. |

Here is a real blast from the past. Via the Futaba image board we can share some images of a packaged sample of Megatron Megabolt from the Beast Machines line with you. For those not familiar with this toy, it was originally intended for a release in 2001 as a part of the Beast Machines Battle for the Spark line, but the line was cancelled before it ever made it to retail (the toy would later be released, repackaged, under the Robots in Disguise line). What we have here for you is a rare look at a packaged sample of the Battle for the Spark Megatron Megabolt, a toy which like the Generation 2 Stunticons or Megatron ATB only exists in very small (probably single digit) quantities.
Take a look and enjoy! |

For our next Transformers toy gallery update, we would like to draw your attention to SydneyY's gallery of Transformers Prime Arms Micron series Stunt Wildrider. Stunt Wildrider is a Japan exclusive release, remolded from the Autobot Wheeljack and sporting a Generation 1 inspired square head with spikes on his ears. He features a rather striking grey and red deco again referencing his Generation 1 self. As well as coming with Wheeljack's twin swords he sports a new Arms Micron, Ozu, an elephant which transforms into a grenade launcher.
All in all, this is a nice looking redeco. Its Japan-exclusive nature means you will need to pay that little bit more to get hold of it, of course - so check out the gallery below and decide for yourself how much you like it. Transformers Prime Arms Micron Stunt Wildrider with Ozu |

There's an interesting variant in the Transformers Rescue Bots lineup. The Rescue Bots Energize figures as you may be aware feature translucent blue plastic. The variant we are getting reports of suggest that on Optimus Prime and Bumblebee at the very least some toys sport a lighter shade of translucent blue, closer to the weapons than the usual darker blue. 2005 Boards member Octavius Prime reported on the variation with a comparison shot of the two different versions - he was not able to find a Heatwave or a Chase to verify if they too have variants.

Check out High-Res images of Kre-O Bruticus. It's amazing how much articulation you can get out of building blocks. I promise you these combiner sets will keep you busy Trans-Building for hours at a time.
Some other KREONS call me dumb. But I have one thing to say to them – “BRUTICUS Annihilate!” Other KREONS might be smarter, but no one is as strong as me. Anyone who faces off against me better have plenty of spare parts, because I break KREONS like little toys! Rival: SUPERION. He thinks he’s so smart and cool just because he’s made of airplanes. Hobby: Knocking over the things DECEPTICON HOOK builds. Hilarious. Fondest wish: To fly. Like an airplane. Even though I still think airplanes are dumb. |

It's time to open the doors on the newest sub-section of our Transformers Toy Galleries - Transformers Prime Beast Hunters. We're kicking off the section with galleries of the new villainous Predacon faction, so check out these galleries of Deluxe class Lazerback and the Voyager class Predaking - the draconic leader of the evil Predacons!
As representatives of the new faction, Predaking and Lazerback represent two good new releases. They set a strong precedent for the new faction and they bring back a lot of elements from the Beast era of Transformers toys, while mixing in some clever engineering tricks at the same time. While there's a certain amount of "animal limbs become robot limbs" and claw-hands in there, they are both nicely poseable toys, lots of great detail and they're also very slightly bigger than recent releases in their respective size classes. Overall both are worth picking up, particularly if you like monster / dragon Transformers. Open the links below to check out the galleries: Transformers Prime Beast Hunters Predaking Transformers Prime Beast Hunters Lazerback |

Another update this evening from Takara designer Shogo Hasui's twitter account. This time it's a silhouette teaser image of the upcoming Masterpiece 17 Prowl figure. Shown completely in black, this figure is due for release in July. Subsequent mold reuses will come in August as Smokescreen and in September as Bluestreak.
Hopefully, this will be a short lived teaser and we'll get our first view of the full prototype in the near future. |

Takara-Tomy's Hisashi Yuki is at it again! He's updated his Twitter photostream with some preview images of the upcoming releases from the Transformers Prime Arms Micron series, Final Battle Megatron and Jet Vehicon General, the last confirmed non-exclusive releases for the line. Final Battle Megatron takes the Voyager Class Megatron and redecos him with lots of shiny silver paint, as well as a unique red and gold deco on his right forearm to represent his "Prime Arm". He comes with a black redeco of the Dark Matter Caliber Arms Microns, to represent the Dark Star Saber. Meanwhile the Jet Vehicon General is a silver redeco of the Japan-only Jet Vehicon, to represent the elite unit of Jet Vehicons that fought in the final battle of Transformers Prime season 2.

Ah, there’s nothing like hunting a terrified group of teensy KREONS through the jungle. Yes indeed, nothing gets my Energon flowing like plucking off a victim’s legs, putting them on the wrong way, and watching the poor fool run backward into trees. You might call it mean, but I just call it funny. Hobbies: Hunting. Messing with tiny KREONS. Favorite food: Steak. Rare. Rival: TRAILCUTTER. Here is a little conundrum for you to puzzle over, friends. The next issue of IDW's awesome Robots in Disguise ongoing was posted early on iBooks - and in one crowd scene, the eagle-eyed among us might be able to spot a familiar looking body type on one of the Decepticons. By way of Allspark user Spectre we've got the panel in question (left) - you can see it is a Generation 2 Dreadwing ATB styled redeco of the IDW stealth bomber Megatron.
Ordinarily, this would not be much more than a case of an artist using an existing design, tweaked, to make a new character to fill out a crowd scene. But with the recent revelation of IDW's characters getting toys - among them, the stealth bomber Megatron - and Hasbro's penchant for reusing molds to break even on design and production costs, and you move from a random cameo into the possibility that Dreadwing here is being planned as a future reuse of Megatron's mold. As always we will not know for sure until we get some official confirmation of a toy being in the works - but the evidence on the table presents a compelling argument, alongside a perfect way to recognise and commemorate Generation 2 as a part of a 30th anniversary line. |
