Michael Bay is pushing the limits of film making again, this time with Transformers: Age Of Extinction. The 4th live action film in the Transformers franchise will be the first ever shot in full IMAX digital 3D cameras. Thanks to a interview by the website 'Film' we have some great insight into how IMAX movies are shot and what type of equipment will be used on the Age Of Extinction set.
Check out the Transformers portion of the interview after the jump. |

It's time for a triple dose of TakaraTomy Generations this morning, courtesy of (as usual) Alfes' Toy Blog, where he has a posted galleries of TakaraTomy's take on the IDW Bumblebee mold (with a more Goldbug-inspired color scheme, albeit one that doesn't use the "Goldfire" Goldbug headsculpt), as well as the two-pack release of Trailbreaker and Hoist. All three galleries feature numerous photos of these new releases, with comparisons with the Hasbro releases of the toys, as well as their Generation 1 counterparts for Hoist and Trailcutter.
We have mirrored a handful of the photos in this story itself, but for the full in-depth galleries, click on the links above. |

There's not a better way to get your day started than with a brand new image of an Optimus Prime toy from Transformers: Age Of Extinction! Courtesy of TFW2005 board members, we have a new image of an Optimus Prime toy from the new live action film.
At this time we only have the one image with the original source being unknown. It does appear to be different from the previous Optimus Prime toy revealed at this year's New York Comic Con. Is this a new Leader Class figure? Voyager? Check out the image after the jump and sound off on what you think of this reveal! |

We have received next week's Diamond Comics Shipping list, and next Wednesday's comic releases are looking Prime!
Next week brings us the concluding issue of the Transformers Prime Beast Hunters comic. Issue #8 sees the Dinobots get some help from a few familiar faces to stop the newest threat to Cybertron. Next week will also see the release of the Covenant of Primus, which delves into the deepest depths of the mythology of the Aligned Continuity to tell the story of the original 13 creations of Primus, and the backstory to the Transformers Prime series only hinted at in the show. Last but not least, next week also brings the release of the Transformers Monstrosity trade paperback. This story follows on the events of the Autocracy miniseries and tells the story of the early days of the war for Cybertron in the IDW publishing continuity. Many thanks as always to D-Drive for the news tip. |

X-Transbots have updated their website to include a new image on the slideshow at the top of the page. The new image shows an unofficial version of Wheelie, which we presume will be the next entry into the MasterMini series following the release of Huffer and Pipes. Rumor has it this one will be named Ollie, but there is presently no further information on the X-Transbots website to confirm this.

Max Nicholson of IGN posted a short interview with Transformers Director Michael Bay, bringing to light some more promises from the director that Transformers fans have come to be all too familiar with.
In the 4th installment of the live action Transformers series, Bay states this film will be "much more cinematic" and "won't [have] any goofiness." This is followed up with describing star actor Mark Wahlberg's character as a "wacky inventor." Also interesting to note is Bay's mention of his decision to return to the franchise, which he credits to the Universal Studios Transformers ride and seeing so many kids anxiously waiting to ride the Transformers thrill ride. Check out the full interview after the jump and let us know what you think of Bay's interview answers. |

Alfes2000 of the Higekuma Toy Blog has posted some nice images of the latest Kabaya Transformers gum kits. These galleries show off the Gum DX Wave 2 in all its glory. Wave 2 has three kits - one containing Overlord, one with Brainmasters Braver and Laster, and the third containing the third Brainmaster, Blacker and the parts to combine the three Brainmasters into Road Caesar (the Road Caesar parts also form a little flying drone with the original did not do). All three sets feature the small Master figures present in the original releases from the 80s in a simplified fashion, as well as compartments for them to sit in or clip into in both modes. Check out the images and see what you think.

Director Michael Bay has logged into his Official Website to make a statement regarding what is being circulated around the Internet. In case you missed it, you can check out our report posted few hours ago.
"I Do Not Apologize For Any Transformers Movies" says Mr. Bay. "It is a drag talking to reporters on sets. Why? Because often times they take your words and skew things to their liking? Then the crazy, lazy game of reporting on what other writers story’s reported me saying and then suddenly it becomes skewed Internet truth. So I waste my time to restate exactly what I did say, again. No I did not ‘apologize’ for any Transformers movies. I did not say I shot the last three movies “less cool” then the new fourth installment. I was talking specifically about camera style and tone, of the first movie compared to how I shot the new installment with a very big scale, cinematic style. I was very specific in saying the first Transformers was shot in a ‘generic suburbia’ area, not trying to be cool with any cinematic flashes. I wanted it to feel like this could happen in any backyard in the United States." Continuing on, the Director did not forget to mention about Transformers: Age Of Extinction. This includes some information about when we'll exactly see the First Transformers 4 Trailer. "So that brings me to letting Transformers fans know that we have completed our five and half month shoot. We got back from a month long shoot in China. My crew and I had a fantastic time shooting in Hong Kong and Mainland China. It was an amazing experience, and I love the country. My cast was absolutely fantastic, and a very fun group to work with. We are working hard cutting the movie right now. I think the first piece comes out for the Super Bowl and a teaser right after that. And yes, I’m very excited about this new movie." Super Bowl XLVIII will take place on February 2, 2014. |

Takara-Tomy Transformers team designer Shogo Hasui has updated his Twitter feed with a new image of Masterpiece Generation 2 Sideswipe / Lambor Generation 2 Version. The new image demonstrates how Lambor can be equipped with his two guns either in his hands or on his shoulders, and how the spikey shoulder wheels can combine into a different weapon. The sword accessory can also be stored on Sideswipe's back.
This very sharp release in the Masterpiece series is due for a release early in 2014. Keep it TFW for more news on this and all Masterpiece series Transformers. |

Last week we gave you a look at the Generations Deluxe class Waspinator, and this week friends we are giving you a look at another "Beast Wars Classics" toy - the Voyager class Generations Rhinox! Rhinox was the gentle giant of the Maximals, a thinker who helped the Maximals by inventing devices for them as well as joining battle with his mighty chainguns.
For the Generations line, Rhinox has been upgraded to a Voyager class toy. Like Waspinator Hasbro has gone to great efforts to deliver a very show accurate robot mode, and the result is one of the very best looking Voyagers ever created. Rhinox has a nice bulk to him although he feels a little light on his feet, and poses extremely well, enabling him to recreate a lot of cool poses. The deco is superb, although it comes at the cost of leaving the chainguns unpainted - annoying but on balance I would say acceptable, since the robot deco is completely spot on right down to the Maximal symbols on Rhinox's head. The beast mode does have a bit of movement in the legs but is largely unposeable other than an opening jaw, but again it looks excellent with all the folds and bumps in a rhino's hide lovingly recreated. Rhinox is one of the very best looking Transformers in a while, and you can tell he was a true labor of love for the design team. The Generations Voyager assortment has never failed to impress of late with great releases like Springer, Sandstorm and Blitzwing, and Rhinox carries on the strong performance. Very highly recommended - I invite everyone, Beast Wars fans or not, to check out the gallery linked below to see why this is such a great toy. Generations Voyager Rhinox Gallery |

2005 Boards member 77camaro has shared some images of the Generation 2 unreleased Combat Hero Optimus Prime and Megatron redecos. What we have here is a real treat. These two items are very rarely seen out of package, and what we have here are the pair of them in package. They are shown here on the same backer cards as the regular versions which did see a release, and have the Hasbro tags on the back of the packaging indicating that these were packaging samples, most likely used by Hasbro for internal exhibition and marketing purposes.
It's rare to see these pieces in any condition much less carded so check them out and a big thanks to 77camaro for sharing these with us. |

By way of this image uploaded to Google user content and shared with us by 2005 boards member GabrielPrime, we have a high-res look at the Cybertronian sword / gun prop from Transformers 4 Age of Extinction. The prop has been seen a few times on set slung over the shoulder of Age of Extinction star Mark Wahlberg.
This close up reveals that while the ornate design resembles something out of Middle Earth, the blade parts down the middle with what looks like a launcher or emitter in the middle. It's a pretty cool prop and one that there will hopefully be a replica of so fans can own one of these too. |
