Via Quincy Ho at Transformers Colombia, we can share with you some images of the Transformers 30th Anniversary Expo, taking place now in Macao. The event is running between June 1 and 5 October 2014 at The Venetian Macao - check out our previous coverage for full details.
What we have here for you are some pictures of the displays themselves - which include large statues of Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, and even that infamous duo of Skids and Mudflap. There also seems to be a Matrix prop replica on show, and some very cool Autobot and Decepticon symbols. Check out the images, and a big thanks to Quincy Ho for sharing them with the fan community. |

Ameblo.jp has updated their website with new images and details of the Sentinel transforming Optimus Prime pen, evidently it is officially being called "Convoy Pen". The figure is set to retail for 3,980 yen and is due for a September 2014 release. The listings are accompanied by new images showing Convoy Pen in color.
But that is not all because two redecos have also been announced - a Black Convoy Pen and an Ultra Magnus Pen, black Decepticon and white "naked" Ultra Magnus colors versions respectively. Each of those looks very sharp, and they are reported to be due in October 2014. Colored images of all three toys are shown, but we think they might be photoshop colors, so be warned the final colors may vary. |

On top of that, the Ultra Magnus version will be an exclusive to site sponsor Hobby Link Japan. The other 2 are not exclusive to them, but are available from them as well here. Prime is due out in September, and the other 2 in October, ranging from 35 - 40 bucks. Check out the updated pics after the break, and head on over to HLJ to grab your Ultra Magnus! ![]() |

Popular Transformers comic book writer Mairghread Scott will be doing a Google Hangout tonight at 9PM EST / 6PM PST. Many will know Scott's work from her current run on the Windblade mini-series, as well as Beast Hunters and Transformers Prime: Rage of the Dinobots.
You can see the announcement on Scott's Tumbler account and follow the links to the Google Hangout from there. This will be a great opportunity to pick Scott's brain about her current work on Transformers or anything else that you'd like to ask; after all she says herself "there are no stupid questions…except that one. You know the one." Sound off in the discussion thread after the jump! |

Australia's Perth Mint will shortly be offering some limited edition Transformers Age of Extinction commemorative coins. These coins come in three styles - Optimus Prime, Bumblebee and Lockdown - and are made of 99% silver. They feature a lenticular effect which makes it appear as if the robot on the coin transforms into their vehicle form. Each coin is limited to 5,000 pieces, although there's a high asking price of AUS $104.55 per coin or AUS $286.36 for the set. They can be purchased direct from the Perth Mint here.

In a slew of news and trailers last week, we seem to have missed the latest trailer for Transformers Rise of the Dark Spark. The video is titled gameplay though it's not a pure video rip of actual gameplay on a system from what we can tell. It does feature Peter Cullen as Optimus Prime giving a nice intro though. Check out the video below, along with the box art for all the systems after the break!
Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark will be dropping on June 24th for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, 3DS, and WiiU. |

The Transformers Hero Mashers figures have made their retail debut in Perth, Australia. Ozformers member Omega Metro spotted them on shelves in Australian chain Toy World - they retail at AUS $19.99, with Bumblebee and Starscream among those spotted. The series allows you to mix and match the body parts of not only the Transformers Hero Mashers, but also the other series like the Marvel Hero Mashers - so a Doctor Doom / Starscream hybrid is now within the realms of possibility if you so choose! Hopefully this Australian retail sighting means a US sighting is equally not too far off.

It's time for us to share another Transformers toy gallery with you, and for tonight's update, we would like to draw your attention to this gallery of the newly releases Generations Legends two-pack of Skrapnel with Reflector.
Carrying on the trend of releasing characters who were of smaller stature in the original Generation 1 toyline in the Legends class, we have this update of Skrapnel. He is extremely well done, with ball-joints all over the place including shoulders, elbows, hips and knees. He's even got neck articulation which you do not see often in this size class. His transformation is straightforward but effective, and produces a cool insect mode which is a very nice classics style take on the Generation 1 alternate form. Partnered with Skrapnel is a little Micromaster sized Reflector. Reflector was originally three robots who merged into a single camera, and for this outing, Reflector is an update of the middle robot who inspired the animation model, Viewfinder. He "transforms" by laying down, and his alternate form has been upgraded to a modern SLR digital camera. He also features a third weapon mode for any Transformer with 5mm fists to wield, and in a nice touch the gun mode is based on the Generation 1 Shrapnel gun accessory. One complaint with Reflector is the fact that in camera mode, the 5mm peg is on top of the camera, so there is no way to have other Transformers hold the camera mode right side up. It would have been nice if there were a way to have other Transformers hold the camera, much like how Skywarp did in the More than Meets the Eye pilot episodes of Generation 1. Overall, the Skrapnel and Reflector set is a great example of what Hasbro can do with the Legends two-packs. It's a great set and a lot of fun either as an addition to a Classics collection or just to have a desk toy to fiddle with. Check out the gallery below to see what you think of this awesome duo: Generations Skrapnel with Reflector Gallery |

Check those mailboxes folks - in addition to Trans-Mutate and Barricade, the Transformers Collectors Club Rampage figure is now arriving! Rampage, or Protoform X as he is sometimes known, is this year's club membership figure so if you had an active club membership through March this year, Rampage is coming your way! He's a remold of the Transformers Prime Deluxe Megatron with a new head mold.
Primal Sabbath, who sent us the news tip, has also done a few in-hand pictures of Rampage - check them out attached to this post. |

The Botcon Facebook page has updated with a new image of the Botcon 2014 exclusive figure, Devcon. Devcon is a retooled version of Generations Scourge, with a new head. He's the first time the Autobot bounty hunter - from the Generation 1 episode "The Gambler" - has been represented in plastic. We think he looks particularly sharp - what do you think?
Devcon will be available in a boxed set with Scorponok, Cannonball, Ginrai and Ferak at Botcon 2014. There's still a handful of attendee sets left for this year's Botcon in Pasadena, California - find out more at the Botcon homepage! |

According to an article by the New York Post published earlier this week, the US toy industry is suffering from slow sales on figures based around blockbuster films, which the article calls “action-figure fatigue.”
The article references three big blockbuster films supported by toy lines this summer which include the recently released The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and Captain America: The Winter Soldier, but also includes a snippet of our main focus here on TFW: Age of Extinction. The article goes on to give some statistical comparison between the DOTM toy line launch and AOE's launch: The toys licensed around the next “Transformers” film is nearly 50 percent below levels seen before the release of the previous franchise film in 2011 [Dark of the Moon]. Is this bad news for the Transformers franchise? Are kids and collectors being "milked" by the same characters on the toy shelves? Is this nothing to worry about and just a sign of changing interests? Or perhaps, will sales pick up as the movie plays out? Let's hear what you have to say about this trend. Sound off after the jump. |
