Happy Trailer Tuesday. We first reported it's rating a while ago, then some our members got to see it (and still can) before Disney's Maleficent. Now here it is, with its full glory. CBMTrailers uploaded Transformers 4 Age of Extinction's ''PG'' friendly trailer, but in Russian.
It's mostly an alternate version of the Payoff trailer with a few additions like extended scenes with Bumblebee, a pack of ''Wolf''s, and a hilarious encounter between Hound and Stanley Tucci's Joshua. Check it out! |

Staff edit:
A more detailed article on the slow pace of AOE toys has been linked to us helping us better understand this 50% statistic we're reading about. According to an article posted on The Globe and Mail the slow start for AOE toys and 50% decrease has to do with the amount of retailer shelf space given to these toys and not necessarily sales. From the article: "The fourth Transformers film, which is set to be released in late June, got half the shelf space at Toys R’ Us, Target and Wal-Mart as the movie’s third installment, Mr. Johnson said – this may have disappointed investors who were expecting the big-name movie to drive demand. He attributes the reduced space to increased caution on the part of retailers, and a certain amount of customer weariness." Our original report based on the New York Post article suggested toy sales were down 50%, however the more detailed article linked above suggests the decrease we're seeing is based on the retailer shelf space given to the AOE toy line. Original post: According to an article by the New York Post published earlier this week, the US toy industry is suffering from slow sales on figures based around blockbuster films, which the article calls “action-figure fatigue.” The article references three big blockbuster films supported by toy lines this summer which include the recently released The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and Captain America: The Winter Soldier, but also includes a snippet of our main focus here on TFW: Age of Extinction. The article goes on to give some statistical comparison between the DOTM toy line launch and AOE's launch: The toys licensed around the next “Transformers” film is nearly 50 percent below levels seen before the release of the previous franchise film in 2011 [Dark of the Moon]. Is this bad news for the Transformers franchise? Are kids and collectors being "milked" by the same characters on the toy shelves? Is this nothing to worry about and just a sign of changing interests? Or perhaps, will sales pick up as the movie plays out? Let's hear what you have to say about this trend. Sound off after the jump. |

Some more Transformers toy sightings to report for you tonight! It's a one-two combo mash-up of sightings with both a new Battle Masters set and the Transformers Hero Mashers reaching US retail!
The Battle Masters set is the most movie-themed the Battle Masters series has been so far, with a set of Silver Knight Optimus Prime and Grimlock which like all sets involving Silver Optimus Prime is a Target exclusive. The set lets you use these rock-em sock-em Transformers to recreate the less than friendly terms Optimus and Grimlock will meet under in the new movie. It was spotted at a Target in Fort Wayne, IN. Likewise in Fort Wayne, IN, we have a sighting of the first four releases in the Transformers Hero Mashers series - a series which lets you switch around the limbs of the various toys to create all kinds of Frankenstein-esque mash-ups. The assortment spotted consists of the "standard" releases Drift, Springer, Bumblebee and Starscream, and they retail at $19.99 each. Big thanks to TFW member Rookbartley for the news tip! |

Shout Factory have also announced a pair of new DVDs today - one for Transformers Prime and one for Transformers Rescue Bots. Both are due in September.
The Transformers Prime DVD is titled "Ultimate Autobots" and is due to hit on 09/23/2014, priced $9.99. Episodes on this collection include Scrapheap, Predatory, Metal Attraction, Stronger, Faster and Legacy. From the title and the episode selection it sounds like a "best of" collection focusing on the different members of Team Prime. The Rescue Bots DVD is titled "Mystery Rescue" and is due to arrive on 09/02/2014, priced $14.93. There are no episode titles for this one, but the listing text mentions the set is a mystery-themed collection with five different mysteries for the 'bots to solve. A TFW2005 thanks goes to captain N for the news tip on both of these sets. |

Jagex dropped us a line to let us know that they have a new piece of concept artwork out for their Transformers Universe MOTA game. This concept piece shows what looks to be a very cool scene, with a vast ship flying low over a cityscape, kicking up dust all around. If this scene is replicated in game and allows players to fight not only on the ground but also on the ship itself, we could be seeing a very cool arena to fight in.
Don't forget to check out the Transformers Universe Twitch TV channel at http://www.twitch.tv/transformersuniverse to see some live streams of the games with the developers - there is one ongoing as we type, with another due in just under 2 and a half hours at 6pm EST. |

Botcon has dropped us a line to let us know that they will be doing something very cool for the young Transformers fans attending this year's Botcon. The first 150 children under 12 who are attending this year's Botcon on general admission - that's the walk-in crowd - will get a free Deluxe class toy!
We here at TFW think this is a really cool thing to do - so if you're in the LA area with little ones and are planning to attend Botcon 2014 in Pasadena over the weekend of 21-22 June 2014, make sure you get there early for when doors open for general admission so you can get an extra little bonus out of the day for the kids! Head on over to the Botcon homepage at www.botcon.com for more information - or read on to check out the press release. |

Hat tip to TFW2005 boards member Sixshot666666 for linking us to an update regarding the voting for the next exclusive figure released through the Transformers Generations 2014 book. As a quick refresh, fans residing in Japan can vote for one of ten figure ideas to be made into an exclusive. According to the Twitter page of heroxnet and a Google translate of some tweets we have the leaders in the poll so far, which are the following:
1st place - Alpha Trion from Generations Scourge 2nd place - Goshooter from Generations Nightbeat 3rd place - Beast Wars Silverbolt from Beast Hunters Grimwing 4th place - Autobot Drift Black Version from Generations Drift We'll be sure to update you as more news of this vote crosses the wire. Until that time discuss the four figures in the lead and sound off for who you want to win! |

It's time again to share with you another new Transformers toy gallery! This time we have a look at a diminutive little Autobot who has shot to stardom during his tour of the galaxy on board the Lost Light - it's Tailgate, with Groundbuster.
Tailgate is, quite simply, a lovely little toy. Originally a Minibot in Generation 1, he has been updated as a new Generations Legend class toy, which puts him at around the size of a Scout, which is a perfect size for the little guy among the Classics toys. He's also spot on for how he looks in the More than Meets the Eye comic, really evoking the look of the character, especially in his face. Poseability is decent, though he's a bit constrained by his vehicle mode parts around the elbows and shoulders which do limit movement a little. Vehicle mode is a sharp looking sports car, with blue flames like the Transformers Prime Cyberverse toy. Tailgate is partnered with Groundbuster, who is loosely based on one of the Generation 1 Construction Patrol Micromasters, Neutro. He evokes a nice Micromaster feel especially with his robot mode design, and would look right at home with the old Construction Patrol or the Sixbuilder Micromasters. His transformation is typically simple for the sidekicks to the Legends toys - he flops forward. The weapon mode transformation and design - a claw - evokes a feel of the Power Core Combiner limbs. The claw mode is an unconventional accessory for a Transformer, but it fits with Tailgate's bomb disposal role in the comic. Groundbuster is an inoffensive figure and a great complement to Tailgate. Tailgate and Groundbuster were recently released in the same assortment as Skrapnel, and are making their way to stores now. He's a must-buy for those wanting to fill-out their Lost Light crew, and I'd warmly recommend everyone check out the little guy. You can start by taking a look at our gallery, linked below: Generations Autobot Tailgate with Groundbuster |

Thanks to two Taobao sellers, we have a look at what is possibly a BotCon 2014 souvenir figure - Flamewar! As seen in these images, she appears to be a redeco of the Beast Hunters Deluxe Arcee mold. Flamewar has been seen as a BotCon offering before, as a redeco of Energon Arcee. This is appropriate, as much like that exclusive, this figure is both a redeco of an Arcee mold, and one that has a crossbow-type weapon.
Update: In a strange occurrence, there is also another auction from the same seller on Taobao with a blue/tan recolor of the PRID Arcee mold. It appears to have the same color scheme used for the recent TFCC Transmutate exclusive, which used the FE Arcee mold. What exactly could this be? A mold mix-up? Simply an experiment? Or could it possibly be another attendee figure? Check the images out after the jump, then discuss and speculate on the forums! |
