What's the farthest anyone has driven or would drive to go toy hunting? Excluding conventions of course!! I'm thinking about going to Texarkana tomorrow to check out their stores and such and a few along the way which is a 1 1/2 hour drive up there.

35 miles one direction for Masterpiece Grimlock, I'm glad I did too, it was the only time I've ever seen him in person.

1 hour sounds about right.

I drove about 4 hours today to go to NYCC, and I'm at the hotel right now, but you said conventions don't count.

Ill drive an hour or so away, 45-60 miles, rarely. Usually to check out the comic shops in NYC. I usually try to stay in a 15 mile radius when doing normal hunts.
I drive up to Boston every month to 2 months and usually go toy hunting while im on the way there and/or back and thats about 160-180 miles and a 3-4 hour drive depending on traffic.

1 1/2 hours to go to farmer's markets maybe 2 hours. Since the only reason I go to farmer's markets is for toy hunting.

NYC from just north of Boston, much like Classified, but without the convenation. I had a trip set for a Ross/Waffle house run last year but the wifes unemployment ran out and my vacation fund got drained.

The best stores to hunt in are an hour to an hour and a half away for me. The one's that are 20 minutes away carry nothing.

I have several normal runs based on the local interstates. My rt 93 north run goes from peabody to woburn MA to salem NH. My current favorite is the 95 north run, from peabody, to Portsmouth NH. Theres 3 Walmarts a target 2 kmarts and a tru that no one hunts at. usually I go about 150-200 miles round trip.

sometimes those long drives for the hunt are fun...but not when you come up empty handed with an empty tank of gas :/

Other than a WalMart about 20 minutes away, my usual trip is 60-75 miles for any decent trip. I travel to dog shows every couple of months, so I usually plan ahead for these. Last one was almost 400 miles one way.
