It's a sign of the times, in the 45 minutes I was in a Toys R Us, I saw 2 kids in the action figures aisles besides my own boys.... however, there was a constant stream of bearded, grungy 35 year olds going thru the figures and giggling like little girls.

I voted no. Why? Because I think if something is not broken...why fix it? The 7' inch scale figures are awesome. Many of the details would be almost entirely lost if the horsemen went down to that size I think. Theyre currently doing fine with offering in-scale vehicles and beasts. Why change it? Let's keep our MOTU Figures ACTION FIGURE sized man...not poop sized.

Ya'know Ive always thought they could do that anyway (which is what I think Mattels going to do) while keeping production costs in-check for the current classics line....why dont they just make any playsets be packaged in connectable pieces. "Chunks" of areas of the castle itself if you will, to be sold individually. This method will also (imo) help to allow the sculptors to , not only take their time, but to create even more beauty and richness to each piece.

I used to play a Collectable miniatures game called "Mage Knight" many years ago. In that game they sold highly detailed, yet practical, castle sections in pieces such as the "gatehouse", "main tower", and "wall sections". It was excellent. Why could the same method not be utilized here for the 7 inch MOTU line? I think it could.

Maybe but for the extra plastic it would either add to the cost of the figure or take away from extra accessories, which just hurts both ends of the deal.

Ouich. I totally disagree here man. You could keep the costs of an individual piece of the castle at around the same price point as say....a standard MOTU Classics vehicle I think, while still haveing many accessories. And hey...its not like Mattel doesnt ever comeout with accessory packs lol.

Well, I do think it would be possible for each section to also have accessories (like an armory rack or something) without raising costs, but it would depend on how many moving parts are incorporated into that section of the playset. If it has any kind of action feature, I'd almost guarantee that it would come with little to no extras.

Even if the individual components were reasonably priced and loaded with accessories, there's still the issue of buyer commitment. How many collectors are willing to stick with it to complete the set, or would even bother starting?

One argument for the introduction of a 1:18th scale MOTU series is that playsets such as Grayskull and Snake Mountain can be done easily within existing price points.

Also, that scale doesn't automatically mean detail will be lost. There are some 3.75" out there with tons of detail, like the GL movie toys. Sure, the articulation is utter crap, but the sculpts are quite detailed. And of course, Hasbro's been able to pull off a lot of detail at that scale for years now. If anything, the lack of detail is more of a business decision by Mattel than a design choice.

On the other side of the coin, Mattel's in-house designers aren't very good at making 3.75" scale toys (at least ones with details, articulation and accessories combined), and I don't know how many lines in that scale the Four Horsemen have done. But if neither one can deliver on a MOTU line comparable to Marvel Universe or G.I.Joe, then I'd rather they not do it at all.

If they re-introduced the Masters of the Universe line of toys at retail in the 3.75" scale and a new cartoon in the same vein as the new Thundercats cartoon at the same time, then I think a new Castle Greyskull would also be a given.

Wrong. It bothers me. A LOT. As for why people want them all the same scale, BECAUSE ITS FUN!! And would look super cool when out on display!! Which brings me to plausibility.

Plausibility is irrelevant simply because its dictated by individual taste,you could say Admiral Ackbar flying a Spitfire is implausible but i think it would kick ass....compatibility however is extremely relevant,having toys that can "play" with other toys the same size from different lines can only be a good thing for product sales across all those lines.Most kids dont really care about "lines" or "brands" they want what catches their eye in the store, if bony skeleton head guy fits in Anakin's starfighter then its all good in the eyes of a kid,and lets be honest MoTU+TNAoHM are bursting with AWESOME character designs(especially the villainous creatures!!) that kids would snap up!!! Who wouldnt want a mini Trap-Jaw you can fit in your pocket,take to school for playtime battles etc. A whole generation of kids are missing out on these great characters because:

A)they are internet exclusives.
B)they are waaaaaay too expensive for any kid to just buy.

Mattel could easily run the larger exclusive line for adults,and a smaller line for kids,they would just need to be good quality figures released to coincide with re-runs of the MoTU cartoon on Cartoon network.

Ps loved that idea for the interchangeable line CLASSIFIED!!!

I think its a really great idea, just not one that would gel with me. I agree that it would open up a lot of opportunity for some great playsets and vehicles, I think I'm still stuck in 1985 though. I don't think I could wrap my head around it. Mind you if I actually saw them I may well change my mind, I'm sure they'd be some sweet figures.

Do I think it's possible? certainly. I think there's some really great technology for action figures these days. I think it could be done well by some and not so much by others.

I think they could pull it off, if they tried.

Plus, I envision a 3.75" line as being aimed at kids and therefore sold at retail. Having a seperate kid friendly line doesn't mean classics goes away.
