Black Series Shadow Squadron In-Hand Gallery

The Shadow Squadron has landed! Hasbro has repainted their 6 Inch Black Series Troopers, this time into a dark themed set featuring the Sand/Stormtrooper and the Biker Scout. Officially named the Shadow Stormtrooper Commander and the Shadow Scout, they are basic repaints with no new molding in a black and grey-blue tone. If a repaint is going to be done Troopers are the way to go IMO – you don’t need them – but if they are cool it makes sense and can work on the shelf. This set will be a Diamond exclusive in the UK, and is a Target exclusive in the US. It was available briefly online via Target.com, and should be hitting stores soon. Pros
Proper repaints, using a troop building figure
Black and blue-grey theme is nice
Imperial logos a nice touch

Cons
Stormtrooper doesn’t come with Sandtrooper backpack, but has the other accessories
Stormtrooper’s molded black is a bit dull, doesn’t pop like the white

Overall
Pretty solid set. The backdrop insert is nice, but I don’t see myself using these various cardboard environment pieces. SDCC Jabba, Han/Greedo, this – no thanks. Don’t waste the energy if it’s costing anything. The figures are well done repaints of existing molds. I don’t troop build, BUT I do grab troopers if they have a change. So these are a perfect way to build out the trooper ranks on the shelves. And, who doesn’t like a black repaint of anything? The highlight paint apps and Imperial logos are a nice touch too. Work very well with Vader. Bottom line, grab if you dig the dark theme or just gotta have them all! Check some key shots here, all 80+ pics are below that.
